Anyone interesting about 3G iPhone?

att has TAP, it's included unlimited data and text, no phone plan required.

I'm att consumer and haven't seen hidden charge on my bill.
Hmm... I'll think about it. ;)

I have AT&T 8525 and haven't seen any hidden charges on my statements so far. But I don't have the TAP thing that the deaf can get discounts/special rates on AT&T phones. I may go for the 3g iPhone whenever I get the time to check it out.

I have AT&T Tilt like your HTC 8525 and I have TAP, too. You can apply it to get discount rate.

I read the iPhone FAQ and saw it states "Assistive GPS" so it not a true GPS and does not use Satellite.

iPhone GPS uses the radio in cell tower or wifi spots to narrow down your location

It is most likely that iPod does not have GPS since it have no phone radio in it unless it can use wifi hotspot location but that is not a real GPS either.

I read post, iPhone is vibration, they said Yes,
but about iPod have vibration too?

I read post iPhone have SDK 250,000 but ipod have SDK too?

Thanks dbarovian - maybe I will switch to the TAP plan when I get another phone with AT&T. I just dislike having to deal with the support/sales guys on the phone.

It seem I am wrong about GPS on iPhone 2.0 after reading other forums about new upcoming iPhone.

It will still be Assist GPS but it use both Radio Tower and Satellite to pinpoint your location so only way to know for sure it to wait and see on July 11th what folks say about it.

They call it "AGPS"

^^ Yes that's correct and we will find out for sure when they release it on July 11th and beyond. :)

Radio tower and satellite? I don't thinks so. ONLY ONE radio tower OR satellite. Most new mobile use radio tower for gps and dont need satellite.

Apple - iPhone - Features - Maps with GPS

Maps on iPhone 3G combines GPS, Wi-Fi, and cell tower location technology with the Multi-Touch interface to create the best mobile map application ever.

Find yourself.
iPhone 3G finds your location via GPS or by triangulating your position using Wi-Fi and cellular towers. It also finds points of interest by keyword: Search for “coffee” and iPhone shows you every cafe nearby.

Apple - iPhone - Features - GPS tells you how it works... READ IT!

GPS = Satellites

Read the link that Boult posted .. It use any Cell Tower, GPS, Wifi hot spot.

In addition to A-GPS, iPhone 3G uses signals from GPS satellites, Wi-Fi hot spots, and cellular towers to get the most accurate location fast

But GPS is more accurate than cell/radio towers however GPS doesn't work indoor so it switch to cell tower to pinpoint your location when you are indoor.

That why it called "A-GPS" that why I learn I was wrong in first post about iPhone GPS and repost correct myself :D

Reread what I said again.

"and" and "or" are not same.

Why should use satellites and radio network at same time for GPS? Non-sense.

IF you enter in the build and can't connection GPS then disable GPS and switch to wifi or network tower mode. All three are enable at same times then kill battery life.

yes it can runs at same time like my at&t tilt does run both at same times. for instance, google maps runs GPS at same times as it loads the maps online as it relocates where it goes. if mobile has its own map like garmin map on storage card, then it can run GPS only.

My friend have one (bluetooth GPS with his mobile and use google maps)

Believe me, Google maps don't use network tower for "GPS" Just loading the data Google maps do not have everything coverage just loading from internet.

Different one.

I tries to said that network tower and Satellites GPS can't use same time for GPS only (not loading map)
