Anyone got UltraZoom on their Naidas?

I have 4 programs for my Nadias- the first is for "everyday" listening, the second is for noisy situations, the third is DAI only, the fourth is "music" aka (that stupid program I have to cycle through before I can hear the person who is talking to me when I've been listening to music via DAI). I also have an automatic half ambient sound, half DAI program.

I can only really tell the difference between the "everyday" program and the noise program, which I guess has some sort of zoom.

It seems that these "special programs" (obviously not including DAI programs) only benefit people with mild to moderately severe hearing loss. Beyond that it seems like a bunch of hype (to me).

I have everyday programme and FM 50/50, never wanted anything else, as all the other program's have failed me. The FM program altho identical to my everyday isn't great but my everyday program is good. I didn't pay for my FM but I've decided when it breaks, I won't be paying for one myself as I still have to look at people and I don't think I like hearing through the FM. I also hate having different colored battery draws.

I do actually think its a load of hype, I have the naida s iii ups and the naida s v up and notice no different in sound between the 2 which means all the features I don't notice. I've always wondered what it would be like to wear the naida s IX up aids tho.

I agree...I have a "noise" program on mine and I don't find it's any better for noise than my everyday seeing as it just picks up noises and makes them louder..like doors slamming and drawers and stuff...I find it useless lol

Hope externally your Audi can get the noise program to work better for you :)

Perhaps I should clarify, I do find the "noise" program useful at times. I think it is because the directionality is turned on and sounds from the back are suppressed. However, when I'm in quiet and forget to change back to the normal mode I can't understand speech as well. So I guess the noise program is beneficial but I really wish hearing aid manufacturers would spend some time developing programs that would benefit people with very little "useable" hearing/severely to profoundly deaf people.

Also, zebras, my noise program is pretty great about eliminating noise. I went to a new audiologist who finally listened to me about the fact that I have good speech and I can understand "more than I should" but it takes a ton of mental energy. For the noise program she cut out all high pitched sounds (plates and silverware crashing" and she slightly cut the bass sounds.
I was nervous about the bass cuts because I usually depend on bass for sound but it has worked pretty well. She had my fiancée talk to me with his mouth covered to make sure I could at least tell when he was talking. I was a bit pissed because it seemed mean for him to cover his mouth but he explained that it was important to get an accurate understanding of what I can hear with my hearing aids since I use my brain to fill in so much. But even when the audiologist turned on surround sound noise I could at least tell when my fiancé was talking and when he wasn't.

Since getting my fitting forumla changed in my Naidas to help with feedback, I've really been able to tell when Ultra Zoom kicks in and even tho I've only got the Naida S IIIs, its VERY good and I'm very impressed with it :)

My Naidas are no where near as noisy now as what they were.

Can you get your Audi to tell us the settings you have now? I'd love to try something that works better than what I have right now. My audiologist is really open to trying crazy new things.

I've changed from the Phonak Digital to the NAL1 NL1 fitting forumla. With the Phonak Digital, my Audi was having to fine tune things like change gain etc as things still didn't sound right and I was still getting feedback. With the NAL1 NL1, the software set all the gains etc and nothing has been 'fine tuned' by the Audi and things sound so great, I don't want anything changed by the audi. Since changing forumlas, I'm getting no feedback as well which is great as these Naidas have been awful for feedback for me.

I do have a completely flat loss between 105db and 115db so there's only a 10db different between my freqeuncies. I know your loss is more slope-ish then mine.

In away, I feel like I got my confidence back. I was on the bus with my sister and she was struggling to hear me with perfect hearing but I could hear myself and my sister REALLY well. I feel like its no where near as a struggle everyday to fit in to the hearing world now :)

I guess you could say my hearing loss is more slopey but just barely. One ear starts at 85 and the other starts at 95 and both dip down to "really damn deaf" (well over 100dB) by 1kHz.

I never really considered myself as having any sort of sloping hearing loss...

I don't think your loss is classed as a ski slope loss but its more slope-ish then mine as my loss is literally flat as a pancake :)
