Yes, I am pretty excited my plan this year. It seems hard for me to get started because green house is a double price than a traditional house.
My sister and I want some skylights, aluminum roof, maybe geothermal, some big windows, good trees for energy saver, a small windpower, solar panels, recycled house supplies, etc. I cannot think of what else.
I read about iForm walls (Styrofoam with concrete fill inside the walls). I discovered that it is a bad idea because we do not want to breathe the Styrofoam inside the house. It is also bad for ozone. Some companies said to some customers that it is safe. It is a big lie. They did not want to say the word - Styrofoam. This is not really green because of health reason.
So far, I found a company that sells cement blocks, and I think it is the best one: (Durisol Company) durisolbuild.com . Or, the second choice would be a timber frame house (Not quite like a cabin. It's more modern style.)
My other sister has a heat flooring in her kitchen for 12 years. Now, there is a water leak. She is stuck now and has to hire someone to replace the entire title floors and the water hose. It is probably not worth for anyone to have a heating floor. The real title floor for kitchen is always cold. I don't know what kind of material that I could use for the kitchen floor - wood floor, cork floor, etc??
