anitirvirus

I use "AGV free" and spybot separately.
I use 'house call' by sysmantic on computers that friends bring in infected.

My house is the local IT it seems.

Im with the above poster

I use Spybot, AVG (Pirated version) and CCleaner. That's it.
I never have any problems with malware, viruses and other nasty stuff.

I'm using Norton Internet Security, but after I saw the webpage, I'll switch to BitDefender after NIS subscription is expired.

I noticed that the link cited by the op had a discount coupon offer in it's report. That made me a little wary that this was' marketing research' as it's sometimes referred to in the IT Admin circles. So I decided to check this against the results with the test done over at AV-Comparatives - Independent Tests of Anti-Virus Software - Welcome to AV-Comparatives.org and wound up trying to figure out the methodology that the op's site used for their testing and frustratingly noted that it's no where to be found!

So what conclusion am I to find with this citation other than it's an AD designed to fool you into thinking their research and testing conclude you should buy their recommended software?

I examined what the reports said over on av-comparatives.org and like Trend micro & f-secure for my purposes, since I tend to be a cross platform pc user.

Plus, how many of you noticed that several of the AV packages have been backdoored at the request of the NSA? I found that mentioned in one of the reports at av-comparatives.org. Food for thought indeed!

AntiVirus, Antispyware & Malware Protection - Internet Security | Webroot

I actually removed all signs of AVG from my 4 computers and installed Webroot's SecureAnywhere Complete 2012. Surprisingly, I paid for the software which for me is unheard of. I went with the 5 PC/Mobile, 3 year subscription year plan. Expensive? I dunno. I really do not pay for anything like this but after installing a trial version. I was so impressed, I decided 'what the hell?'. Tossed AVG out the window and no plans on looking back.

I'm also using Malewarebytes Pro, which unlike Webroot, is pirated/cracked

I use Kaspersky, have not had any problems with viruses or anything. If I download something and it's infected or something, Kaspersky has always caught it and taken cared of it. So I'm happy with it.

Purchased 4 keys for Malewarebytes Pro earlier today at 20% off. Sweet deal. Also, unlike other companies, Malewarebytes provides a lifetime license! S

I use Debian and don't have to worry about it Debian -- The Universal Operating System

I use Ubuntu (Derivative of Debian with a nicer look) and it's great (Homepage | Ubuntu). They both use the Linux kernel and thus, the system is built like Apple's operating system (No Viruses) except it's free. Before, I dealt with a ton of issues. The virus programs I used were AVG and Avast. I dealt with a lot of computer people who were constantly trying to give me viruses on purpose (WAREZ) so I would have about 500 infected files a month. I got tired of all the hassles and switched to Linux. If you're just using your computer for the web and email and word processing I would recommend Linux (Debian/Ubuntu). It's free, but it DOES NOT support Windows programs. Those programs would have to have a Linux version.

EDIT: also, if your computer is under warranty, you need to check with the company to see if a Linux install would void that warranty. If it does then you would be stuck with NO factory assistance whatsoever if your computer ever broke.

I use the free Comcast antivirus from Symantec (free to Comcast customers) and it works pretty well.
