[Anime] DVD Collection

I have let's see... Love Hina, Final Fantasy Unlimited, Angelic Layer, Last Exile, Ah My Goddess, Oh My Goddess, Dragonball Z Season 1 and the movies, Magical Shopping Arcade Abenobashi, Please Teacher, Samurai X, Street Fighter, Akira... a few more I think. I haven't finished some of them because the boxes are expensive to buy.

My Regular, Anime and Manga collection

Here is some pics of my huge DVD collection and I know the picture quality is kinda choppy becaue I'm using the SK2 camera function so bear with it. For anyone who wish to take a closer look at anything in the pictures, let me know and I would be more than glad to take more pixs.

This is the pix of my bookcase with regular movies, you can see some figures on the shelf, it's kinda hard to see but it's on the 2nd shelf.

f5454827.jpg

The first shelf has more of the regular movies and the rest of the shelves contain Anime DVDs.

f5454828.jpg

The first shelf has some more of the Anime DVDs, and now the rest of the shelves are my games and mangas. You can see on the side, that I really need a fourth bookcase or a really huge media library case to hold everything. The pile is more of the games and mangas, mostly PS1 and Gamecube games.

Ahh... interesting. I've seen a few of these at anime conventions. Heh!

Now more companies are starting to print manga books in its traditional Japanese format, right to left. If you see some from Tokyo Pop, Viz, Central Park Media/Manga and some more, you will see that they're converting the reading format to the Japanese way. I have a lot of 1st versions like Ranma 1/2, which is different from what Lovely have right now but it still do the left to right format. I do not know why Viz continues to do that while they do the right to left format on other books under Viz. Almost all or maybe all of the mangas under Tokyo Pop are right to left so almost everytime or everytime you pick up a book that's distributed by T.P., you will have to read from right to left and to learn how to do it is really easy. Maybe a little complicated at first like how to read the panels in proper order but it's not hard if you stick to the unique but not so unique format.

One more thing, all of the companies are doing the traditional shorten version (in size) of the books, we got the oversized books like the 1st version of Ranma 1/2 and Inu Yasha then after seeing how popular Anime/Manga is in America, they want to change the books so it will be affordable so they had to shorten the size of the books so it will be $9.95 almost every time you buy them. Shonen Jump, which is a sub division of Viz here in America (I think) release Ruroni Kenshin, Prince of Tennis, One Piece, Shaman King, Naruto and more at 7.95 per book.

Magatsu, a recommendation for you; After reading Love Hina or in the midst of reading it, I strongly recommend you read A.I. Love You and Negima, both done by the same creator, Ken Akamatsu. Yes I agree with you, GTO is hilarious and I got some of the DVDs.

LOL! well I tend to find them at bargain prices like at Best Buy, most of Viz anime and some companies like Kitty Video or so, tend to be priced at 19.95. Get 5 of them, it's 100 dollars per set of 5 so it's not bad. I also buy them online at www.dvdplanet.com, they always have Pioneer DVDs at 30% off and other animes at like 15 to 40% off. If you prepurchase something, it's like 30-50% off before it comes out and when it comes out, its now 15% off. That's how I did it. Sometimes I could not wait for it to come out but I have patience and at least I saved like 5 bucks. ^_^;

That's how I did it, got my collection to grow over the 5 years, but started collecting more anime 2 years later because I find regular movies boring and more like "Just rent it and forget about it" for me. Anime is priceless and no matter what anime I have seen, I will see it again and again for years to come!

This applies for the games, I wait for some games to drop down in price. For example, I saw Viewtiful Joe and I'm pretty sure it is a good game, but 50 dollars... ouch... so I waited and waited, couldn't find a single fcking copy at Blockbusters (it has always been out every fcking time I come in and look for it). Over Christmas, (this recent one), I saw one for 20 bucks at Meijer's and bought it. Worth 20 bucks in my opinion. Another one, Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles, came out at $50, dropped to 20 bucks a few months later at the Wal-Mart Superstore. Yes sometimes there are games you can't wait for, like the *cough* halo series and GTA:San Andreas and some more, you would want to buy it right away. I have the same temptation but I learn how to resist it till it drop in price value and become affordable for me :D

Cool! Thanks for showing! One of mangas is Yaoi and other manga, Shounen Ai. These mangas are good for most gals like you to read. Ranma 1/2 manga version is more funnier to read than watch the anime version.

I already pm'ed vampy about adding the new link in my first post to 'fix' the dead image. I go ahead and post the picture in this post.. here it is.

PyrollisAhFiros, as you see, I tend to buy the boxsets over anything if I can find these (as long as it is reasonable price to buy). Organizing the mangas is almost finish and my boss gave me few days off from work because of my co-worker who will be absent for few days. So I will finish cleaning up the mangas and other things this afternoon.

Edit: Oh yeah, New one. Here it is:

He covers everything about manga issues.

btw, don't forget that it is largely depend on sources. For example, some mangas are originally from Korea which read left to right, not reverse form. I can use Threads of Time as example, its source is Korea and it contains left to right reading style. Banana Fish comes with left to right reading style, I believe.. it is published in Japan (I think).

As for Mahou Sensei Negima, yeah I plan to download the entire of serie tonight along with other manga scanlations so I can read that manga. As for A.I. Love You, I heard about it as well.. I plan to order several new mangas this week, I think I will order one volume of A.I. Love You. Thanks for recommendation! There is a manga artist I know who kept nagging me to read Negima and A.I. Love You. I managed to convince him to read Battle Angel Alita (it is my number one favorite manga) and he fell in love with it... He is a Shoujo and Shoujo-Ai fan so it is sort of 'victory' for me to convince him to read Battle Angel Alita however he nagged me to read these mangas that you recommended.

Just that I am looking foward to get my hands on PlanetES Final Volume 4.b -- it is in top ten for mangas for me to read :)

I can add manga collection picture in next post, I am planning to clean the mangas up soon.
Damn... now I'm crying! You put my 100+ DVD collection to shame... and those are just regular movies, not animes! :(

Heh. Well, I bought these anime titles instead of movie titles for several years. I bought some movie titles that I like or big hit in theaters.. My non-anime collection is pathetically small when compare to your 100+ DVD collection. So your collection put my non-anime collection to shame as well! Cheers!

btw, thanks for fixing the url!

I've own the entire "love hina" manga volumes (1 to 14) and just collected two volumes of "Negima!" but I haven't collected any volumes of "A.I. Love"...however, I read abit of it when I was in a bookstore one time and the drawings sure were different than the other series that he created...lol I guess it was his first, right? was "A.I. Love" as funny as "Love Hina" or "Negima?" personally, I find "Love Hina" to be actually more goofy and hiralous than "Negima" is.

I'm also trying to collect "Battle Vixens" as I just got two volumes of the series and will be getting more in the near future anyway.

oh, and I have one volume of "Gunsmith Cats", and it's pretty cool...lol but I know there's tons of volumes on "Gunsmit cats" but don't really have the time for collecting comics all the time like I used to...lol
and I also own about 4 books of "no need for tenchi!" which was based on "Tenchi Muyo!" one of my most favorite anime series when I was a teen but now I'm into the "ghost in the shell" series :P even some others that you proably didn't heard of..."caravan kidd" and "drakunn" which were created by Johji Manabe, who did his first series on "outlanders" and I haven't own that series either...they are published by dark horse comics so perhas you'll find them online at www.darkhorsecomics.com or something like that...it's not really my favorite mangas, but I enjoy reading them for fun. :)

well, I own mostly superheore comics like "spider-man", "tomb raider", "witchblade" and "danger girl"...but now I'm not really collecting any superhero comics at this time...I think mangas are actually more enjoyable to read, in my opinon.

hmmm...oh yeah, one of my stepfather's friend is in Japan and he married a japanese woman as well so one time he went back to America for a new year's eve party, he gave me a "poke'mon" manga printed in Japanese and even Japanese "Poke'mon" cards! so they would be worth a fortune someday. *whristles* it was pretty cool of him to do that. :D

well, I'm gonna try to get more mangas over the weekend since I should be getting another paycheck this thrusday. :P

No problem!

The problem with animes is that they are usually expensive and hard to find in most places. Best Buy has a good collection, but they're usually popular titles and rarely series. Media Play and Suncoast Video are usually good places for animes cuz their selection is HUGE! However, their prices are horrible! Sometimes, the prices are twice what you would find elsewhere. Jeez, I wonder what makes them want to charge us at twice the price?
