What is animal cruelty? Injuring an animal is animal cruelty PERIOD! It's includes neglect: failure to provide proper food and water.

Many times the masters don't take this seriously. It is Class A misdemeanor, punishable by up to one year in jail.

Here is a story, I walked on the random street in NYC. I saw a tough master beating up his dog because it refused to walk; mind you that dog seemed in pain. I stood there and watch. I wanted to say something. I couldn't. I want to dial 911, I couldn't. It was NOT my first time I have seen masters hitting their own dogs. And I did NOTHING. I was feeling so guiltily.

Why I did not say a word? Well I don't want him to beat me up too. Why I did not pick up a phone and dial 911? I cannot hear on the phone very well.
What DEAF/HOH crime witness should do??

Here is some other story. I have a friend who is hoh. She saw a master kicked their small dog up in the air. Right away she called 911. Guess what. She waited for an hour. NO COP shows up. Did the emergency dispatcher take her serious? Or was it possible that the police officer did not take the call serious. What is wrong with them? It is a crime! They should run to animals as they would run to victims!

What would I do?....If I personally saw someone kick a dog or a cat in the air, or abuse their animal in any way, I would calmly confront that person and say....Let me take ur pet off ur hands! I'll give it a good home, etc., etc. If the person refused, I would plead....then threaten to call the police & animal control. If people were around, I would tell them exactly what the person did to his pet. I would embarrass him to death.....If I knew where the person lived, I would call animal control on them. And would be willing to take it to court if necessary as a witness that the person was/is abusing his pet.

Whenever I look into the loving eyes of my dog (a Pomeranian) and my cat (a Tuxedo), the thought of anybody abusing them would be enough for me to grab my gun!

You must be very brave to do that. It is NOT easy to do that in huge city. We have a lot of crazy people in here. But I admire your encouragement and brave. If I have a chance to go on AIM to call 911 or call ASPCA

what a terrible way to treat a dog.

I wouldn't know what to do either. Other than wait for the guy to stop and take the dog if possible.

Me...if I saw a guy hitting or kicking an animal I would politely inform them that unless they stop they are going to get a taste of what it's like to have the crap beaten out of them.

Seen plenty of people get arrested for animal cruelty. Hear about it often on the news. Ranging from dog fights/ chicken fights, starving them, horrible living conditions. Depriving them from medical care when needed.

Even had some arrest for deplorable puppy mills. Plus more.

Very sad indeed.

I agree, nowadays, will you be prepared for the perps use of a weapon against you should you choose to confront them? It can get messy, even for gung ho types.
