Amtrak may hit by object?

Raise the train ticket cost.

Throwing debris to train can cause train to flip over?

They've already raised the cost of tickets to the point where they are gouging the customers to death. A relative (and a former Amtrak employee) once said so as they know how Amtrak works and the budgets issues. It's partly why Amtrak is doing so poorly lately between the ridiculous cost of tickets and less or no services to many parts of the US now (when it used to be a lot easier to get somewhere by train).

as for
Amtrak now installs speed control for all the passenger trains.

The article talks mostly about the ATC at the Franklin junction (odd that it was installed on the SOUTH bound route but not the NORTH bound round...) then mentions the PTC system for ALL the tracks. It they were ordered to complete the installation of PTC by December 2015. Amtrak says they are on schedule. Somehow I doubt that...

And the freight trains are fighting the requirement for installing the PTC. At least Amtrak is trying to get it completely installed by the deadline despite the poor funding the get from Congress.
I heard that the PTC is affected by the cuts in funding because the equipment is considered Capital Investment, not Operational (or something like that).

Railroad unions are urging Amtrak to put a second engineer in locomotives, report said.

The unions say Amtrak hasn't had a second crew member in the cab of Northeast Corridor trains since 1983, after Congress ended the requirement.

Are the unions going to get Congress to fund the salary for the 2nd person the the cab? Consider how many trains run on the NEC everyday. Plus the other Amtrak trains around the country. Good luck with that.
