I have been watching hannity and holmes all last week about this discussion that america is losing religion. First the ACLU says you must remove the cross of the seal of Los Angeles county cause it seperates between church and state Then state of alabama removed the 10 commandments staue. Then missisippi schoolboards say you cant bring a copy of The Declaration of Independence in classes cause it has the word GOD in it. Then several cites across america say you cant display the nativity on their streets. But theyre allow gays to partispate at the columbus day parade and on st patricks day. But you cant display the nativity in the christmas parade? thats bull! Sean hannity suggests we start fighting back against liberals and its starting to show little by little. If democrats cant figure out what went wrong on november 2nd they better listen very hard what america is telling them. I want president bush not only to fight hard put an amendment to ban same sex marrages in our consitution,But also to
put an amendment that religion is part of our culture. God belongs a part of america he helped us to be a nation of justice and freedom. It goes back to the story of moses who freed his people from the Egyptians and gave them freedom. Another group of christain people called the quakers who got on the mayflower escaped from england and landed on plymouth rock and founded freedom, I think that has a lot to do with GODs miracles.Everyone of the quakers had a bible with them and they followed gods laws and thank god everytime they had a meal. I think people should stand up against the ACLU and say ENOUGH IS ENOUGH! But we need a lot more folks get into this fight keeping religion in america. Mel gibsons movie (the passion of the christ) Woke up some people but he needs to put more bibical movies about the bible and freedom. I think we have to take a stand against the ACLU and liberalism.

organized religion is one of the most corrupt systems in the world, There
was a reason our founding fathers wanted to keep church and
State separate, Even back then they understood the evil bad men can
do wielding the power of the church

I'm a firm believer that church and state should be seperate, however, one has to acknowledge that our founding fathers were a religious lot, and their beliefs had a lot of influence in the founding of our country. I've never had a problem with a prayer in a goverment facility. I've never had a problem with the words 'Under God' in our Pledge. I never had a problem with 10 commandments in a goverment facility. It has gone so far that there was a debate about the removal of a veterans memorial because the land the memorial was on was goverment owned. There is even a debate if we can have a christmas tree in our police station...or even a wreath on the door.

Perhaps the way I perceive things is off, but my impression of the seperation of church and state is that the government can not create a state religion, nor can they force you to practice a certain religion or ban you from practicing something different. I've never understood what the hoopla was all about and why the ACLU throws so many resources into getting the Pledge out of schools and that takes away from people whose civil liberties are really being violated.

I know when I was in school (and this was a number of years ago before, not quite as PC as it is now), one could elect not to say the pledge. I spoke to a muslim friend of mine who went to school here. He was never offended by the pledge and was never offended by any talk of Christianity as it pertained to world history (here, they are trying to re-write the history books to take out any mention of religion).

Good posting.

Just one little correction:

The Christians on the Mayflower were Pilgrims, not Quakers. The Quakers came later, to Pennsylvania. :)

Yes, the Founding Fathers did not want a "state church" such as England had. England used tax money to support the Church of England. That also meant that the government controlled the church leaders. Americans believed that the churches should support and control themselves. They wanted to protect the churches and religion from the government. They were not trying to protect the government from godly people. Now it has been turned upside down.

Here we go again.

I am a very liberal person yet I dont believe in removing anything that speaks of religion.

It is NOt because of liberalism - it is because the Federal Gov't has become more gung ho over keeping church and state seperate.

It is Supreme Court, not Bush, that you should be concerned about. Supreme Court is doing all of this.

Please check facts AGAIN as I said in the other thread.

As far as I'm concerned, the Christians need to keep their God out of OUR government and I'll keep my Gods and Goddesses out of OUR government too. What's good for the goose is good for the gander.

This just came out today.
Ala. Judge Wears Ten Commandments on Robe

By BOB JOHNSON
MONTGOMERY, Ala. (AP) - A judge refused to delay a trial Tuesday when an attorney objected to his wearing a judicial robe with the Ten Commandments embroidered on the front in gold.

Circuit Judge Ashley McKathan showed up Monday at his Covington County courtroom in southern Alabama wearing the robe. Attorneys who try cases at the courthouse said they had not seen him wearing it before. The commandments were described as being big enough to read by anyone near the judge.

Attorney Riley Powell, defending a client charged with DUI, filed a motion objecting to the robe and asking that the case be continued. He said McKathan denied both motions.

``I feel this creates a distraction that affects my client,'' Powell said.

McKathan told The Associated Press that he believes the Ten Commandments represent the truth ``and you can't divorce the law from the truth. ... The Ten Commandments can help a judge know the difference between right and wrong.''

He said he doesn't believe the commandments on his robe would have an adverse effect on jurors.

``I had a choice of several sizes of letters. I purposely chose a size that would not be in anybody's face,'' he said.

The case raised comparisons to former Alabama Chief Justice Roy Moore, who was removed from office in 2003 for refusing to remove a Ten Commandments monument from the rotunda of the Alabama Judicial Building in Montgomery.

Moore said Tuesday he supports McKathan's decision to wear the Ten Commandments robe.

``I applaud Judge McKathan. It is time for our judiciary to recognize the moral basis of our law,'' Moore said.

Powell said if he loses his case, he expects the judge's wearing of the Ten Commandments robe to be part of an appeal.

 Back to cheri.
Cheri so its ok for cities to remove the nativity from their streets from christmas parades. And allow gays to march down on columbus day parades and st patricks day parades? In baltimore you cannot display the nativity at all!! Not even you cant display it in shopping malls or in the inner harbor. And i went to the st patricks day parade and saw a group of irish people men kissing and doing irish polka dancing and this was a disgrace! I was yelling and screaming WHERE IS MAYOR O`MALLEY?? Hes irish he didnt speak out on this. I want this clown impeached from mayors office.

What I don't understand is why some people complains so much about religion being involved in the goverment, it ok to say that you don't want to see that happen in the goverment, and it's ok to say or disagree that you don't want to see ' God ' on a dollar bill, or a song that been used for many years in school as ' Under God ' whatever, I don't see the point of making a big deal out of it, The only thing that ' God ' was into this in the first place is because of the earth we live on, God created this earth and we should remember God in this, it doesn't mean you have to believe in God, that would be your choice and the goverment is not asking you to either....

And I personally see that there's nothing really to complain about, if the goverment involves a religion in this or not , It doesn't bother me at all, the only thing I have a problem with related to the Goverment is being in other people business when they know as well, they're not the ones who living in their shoes so for that they do not have the right to judge others whatever they do in their lives is their business...

And for the parades, I find nothing to complain about, it something to watch and enjoy with everyone else ;)

Remember , this is just my personal opinion! :ty:

Why don't you take your complaints up to the Mayor, Why asking me? It really does not bother me what Gay/Lesbians do as marching down on parades with banners or whatever. This is yet another example of having the Mayor picking and choosing not to be on the side of gay and lesbians? I think the Mayor is just trying to be fair with everyone, afterall everybody is a human being.

I hope mel gibson makes 4 more movies about religion before the next election in 2006. Heres my suggestion "The Garden of eden" Story how humanity was born. And the stoy goes on about love between a man and a woman and goes on eve giving birth to Abel, And another one to Kane. The story ends when kane leaves "The Tower of Babel" Story shows how man tried to challenge GOD that man thought he is higher than god. And then GOD punished everybody make then speak in differant languages and sent the people in their seperate ways. The story ends when they show 10 differance races of people and the languages they spoke." Bethlehem " The story about mary and joesph and they both traveled though bethlehem with their lives and while mary is pregnant with jesus the story ends when mary gives birth to jesus and places baby jesus on the nativity as 3 wise men points towards the north star. Then Finaly "Settlers of the west" Story starts when a ship arrives at May 14, 1607 at jamestown virgina how people lived and ate and follow gods laws of christianity and make peace and lived with the indians. The then theres the first murder commited at jamestown trial and punishment and the story ends when execution is carried out. What im getting at is theryre consequences on everything we do. And its all in the bible and why man is this way today and just maybe most of american will turn on against these liberals and challenge them and we might just take back our country.

Ravensteve1961: And the stoy goes on about love between a man and a woman and goes on eve giving birth to Abel, And another one to Kane. The story ends when kane leaves

Actually...Adam and Eve were banished from the Garden of Eden for disobeying God's command; they had two sons, Abel, a shepherd of sheep and Cain, a tiller of earth - and Abel was slain by Cain (NOT Kane), because Abel was favored by God due to his sacrifice of a sheep. Cain did ask God for his forgiveness and was spared, and was the father of Enoch, and named a city in Enoch's name.

Ravensteve1961: The Tower of Babel" Story shows how man tried to challenge GOD that man thought he is higher than god. This time you're closer to the actual story, but it was not ten races of people. You're talking about the Ten Tribes of Israel, which comes later in the Old Testament.

Ravensteve1961: Bethlehem " The story about mary and joesph and they both traveled though bethlehem with their lives and while mary is pregnant with jesus the story ends when mary gives birth to jesus and places baby jesus on the nativity as 3 wise men points towards the north star

Actually, Joseph and Mary were not traveling with their lives...they were not wanted by any authorities. Mary placed Baby Jesus in a manger; the navity did not come til much later...and it is a Catholic tradition, adopted by many of different faiths.

Ravensteve1961: Then Finaly "Settlers of the west" Story starts when a ship arrives at May 14, 1607 at jamestown virgina how people lived and ate and follow gods laws of christianity and make peace and lived with the indians. The then theres the first murder commited at jamestown trial and punishment and the story ends when execution is carried out.

Actually, there were no women at that time. They did not come until a year later. The men did not live peacefully with the Indians - they were often at war with the Indians. The first name of the settlement was James Fort, not Jamestown. And even then, in 1610, Jamestown even was abandoned for a white. It took the foresight of one man, Lord de Warr, to encourage the members to reestablish Jamestown.

It was a commercial venture, not an attempt to colonize a New World. It was aimed at making the King richer...and richer.

And guess what? Christinany did not always have a good foothold there - there were a LOT of problems.

Ravensteve, be careful with your history.

I know!! I was trying to make it short and simple. I dont like going on forever. Why dont you edit the stories and see you can keep them short.

What about other religions? Will star of David instead of cross on the seal offend Christians?

nothing but pure crap, written by corrupt men and followed by weak minded individuals who can't think for themselves

Let's see here... if the judge can't be allowed to wear that on his robe, then the courts should not be permitted to use the Bible for swearing in oaths.

Nothing wrong with that. But if its a jewish community they should be able to do that. Theyre jewish communities in about every city they should allow jewish people to display their religion to celebrate in their holiday. Samething should be allowed in muslim and islamic communities. I see in san francisco the chineese are showing off their religion. See theres a solution to this problem Allow the people to pratice their own religion in their own communities including schools and Libraries. But only in goverment buildings they cant do it. But once youre out that building whichever community youre in is what goes.
