I recently saw a quote on a church that said .....

" American "

American means I can

I thought that was a very good quote for the Patriotic 4th of July with all our freedoms, American inventions, teamwork and hard work ethics etc.

Have a Happy 4th of July and God Bless America !!!!! ;)

Here's another interesting tidbit:

Amer, as in American, also means 'bitter' in French.

That's all I have to say. ;)

French? You mean those evil people that Republicans boycotted b/c they didn't believe the propaganda that there were WMD in Iraq? You know......I've never seen the Democrats call for a boycott on Bush's baked beans, like some Republicans did with French's mustard!

You beat me to it :hyper:

No, deafdyke, I was only pointing out that Amer means 'bitter' in French. If you isolate the letters 'ican' from 'American', you get 'amer.' You follow me? :)

Hi mepunctured,

On a public holdiay such as this. Do you really have to show your Anti-American colors ? :smoking:

I am really concerned with many American universities showing record levels of Anti-Americanism never seen before and in the 1940's the 1950's even way back then there was no real Anti-Americanism so what is up with that ?plus I did not know Ameri meant that in French. I am sure there are many positive things Ameri means in different languages and I do not have time to look it up. I have time to celebrate and enjoy the 4th of July.

Heath, chew on this. "Dissent is the highest form of patriotism."

Everyone's right to dissent in America is fought for and protected by our government, military, and people. It's AMERICAN to have your right to speak your mind, whether it's rational or not.

I'd prefer all dissent be rational, well thought out, and intinuitive, but then it means that someone has to decide what's rational or not -- and you'd be the last person I want deciding that.

Be glad you're somewhere where you can express your disagreement with me and everyone else, 'cause if I were in charge, someone like you might suffer for your idiotic thoughts. You'd do the same to me. So I'm GLAD things are still allowed right now. And stop calling people who disagree with you "Anti-American."

Heath, you know that you always being bitter with every AD so that you kept talking, "I can" follow 100% from the bible....

You would be surprised , maybe even shocked and angry to see that I am not a bitter person in real life. ;)

'Ameri' doesn't mean anything in French. But 'amer' in French means bitter. I was only playing along with your game, but by no means making a political statement, much less flashing my alleged anti-American colors. That's all.

If you don't like the phrase 'French fries' because of its alleged connection to France, just call them 'fries', 'chips' or 'pommes frities.'

French fries are originally from Belgium.
