Amanda Knox and her boyfriend get jail sentence!!

I doubt that Knox will return to Italy.

Italy will probably ask for extradition, but US most likely not honor it due to double jeopardy. Most cases I feel strongly about, Amanda Knox... not so much. Most of what I read claiming guilty makes me believe she is innocent but reading HER book claiming innocent gives me doubts. (Backwards, right?)

Do you think she did it or not?

I dunno...wish I had of paid more attention to this news and trial.

Not sure - Italian Supreme Court overturned her conviction because of not enough evidence to warrant to convict her with murder charge.

Need have evidence is beyond the reasonable doubt, if not then going acquit her.

If I remember my European history correctly, the court system in Europe is based on presumed guilty and having to prove your innocence. I have no idea of Amanda Knox's guilt or innocence, but a trial in the US or Britain would've been conducted very differently under the concept of innocent until proven guilty.

AMANDA KNOX AND DOUBLE JEOPARDY: DOES IT MATTER IN ITALY?
http://www.cbsnews.com/news/amanda-knox-and-double-jeopardy-does-it-matter-in-italy/

You are making this up as you go along. Nearly all European nations (even Russia) have a presumption of innocence. The legal systems and rights of citizens are way in advance of the US in Europe. We have national laws and then we have European wide human rights conventions.

Time you deported Knox. The papers here have front pages with the title "Shameless in Seattle". It is making the US look bad that you would knowingly provide safe haven for a convicted murderer.

Deport Knox? Knox is American native, so deportation will not make any sense, so extradition is correct word. You forgot about our constitution banned double jeopardy, so she cannot extradited to Italy and the treaty between US and Italy agreement about based on double jeopardy will not extradited.

Double Jeopardy means retrial for same crime.

We have doubtful about Knox actually killed Kercher because the evidence didn't make sounds like that and the court appeal already overturned her conviction, so it is obviously something is wrong with Italian court system.

I am confused as why we are discussing extradition when we still have to wait for the Italian court to uphold the verdict, isn't that why Raphelle is still free?

Knox is an American citizen; she can't be deported from the United States.

It would look bad if the US ignored its own Constitutional protection against double jeopardy.

So we might as well tear up all extradition treaties with the US if you will only apply them when it suits you.
Why not? Other nations can refuse to extradite to the US when there's a possibility of a death sentence. That is, when it suits them.

She has been found guilty (however bad the Italian judicial process is), so the right thing to do would be to extradite her immediately. US law does not apply to US citizens who commit a crime in Italy.
Italy still has an appeal process, so the right thing to do would be to wait for that process to be completed before making any decisions.

You USAnians have no shame. You will not sign up to the International Criminal Court because you believe your citizens should get away with war crimes and then you disregard extradition agreements you have with your European partners.

Shameless.
Which perfect country do you represent?

Tear up all extradition treaties with US? That's your dream.

I don't believe that she treated equally in Italian court system and you failed to notice about Italian appeal court overturned her conviction, so it is obviously about serious questioning with Italian court system and her DNA got mixed result.

However, a court-ordered review during the first appeal in Perugia, where the murder happened, discredited the DNA evidence. It said there were glaring errors in evidence-collecting and that below-standard testing and possible contamination raised doubts over the DNA traces linked to Kercher on the blade, as well as Sollecito's DNA on Kercher's bra clasp.

Amanda Knox's DNA Found On Suspected Murder Weapon, Not Victim's, Expert Says

For guilty and conviction, it must beyond the reasonable doubt, but if Knox's case couldn't beyond the reasonable doubt so she will be acquitted.

She is on US soil now and I don't believe that she will extradited because of double jeopardy and her case will possibly end up in US Supreme Court.

What is USAnians? There is no official definition so we are Americans.

We don't ratify ICC because they are not compatible with our constitution, so our constitution trumps all in our country. Russia doesn't ratify ICC as well.

Italy hasn't even asked for extradition, shouldn't you wait to demand it until they do?

You have your beliefs and laws as you understand them living in Europe. We have ours beliefs and laws that pertain to us in the USA.

First, if your country is a member of the EU, you are under those laws. Italy (an EU member) does not have a double jeopardy law.

After Italy convicted Amanda Knox, The Italian Supreme Court overturned and acquitted Miss Knox after revealing there were massive amounts of errors in the trial and set her free.

Yes, now the same court ruled again that she is guilty. Our country does not try a person over and over until they get a verdict that the majority likes. Those were antiquated laws whereby many innocent people were convicted.

Miss Knox is now protected by U.S. law. If for whatever reason, she stepped foot back in Italy, she would again be under Italian law.

My opinion is Italy loves sensationalism in whatever form. Especially politics.
