Dear AllDeaf readers


I was wondering about this forums. I had other forums systemically functions same as this forums but this forums are, my guess, 90% way off the point or in other meaning, irrelvant. If you are not sure what I am talking about. I can explain clearly about this.

A lot of questions are NOT about deaf related issues. All of them are like, Bush and Kerry?, Second death experience?, Animal bites?, which states is the best? I become bored with this forums. I want the discussion here come to good sense of debate about the deafness. I know you will have a lot of questions about that. For example, What would you do if your bosses refuse to write paper and pen, and tried to make you read their lips, or How many of you got dismissed in court for lack of interpreter?, how many of you get away from DUI because of no interpreter or no TDD at Police Station, how many do you start throwing away closed captioning device because of new ADA law requiring all TV to be installed close captioning program inside, how many of you aware that there are 300 deaf pilots flying charter planes in the United States? Are you aware that Canada allows deaf to drive 18 wheels but not flying the charter planes while USA allows deaf to fly charter planes but not 18 wheels? Are you also aware that there is only two countries that legalize deaf charter plane pilots?

There are so many questions about deaf... its senseless to establish off the point questions, remarks about anything OTHER than deaf. I think I might not continue reading this forums if more senseless forums shows up daily. WhiteBlaze.Net, the similar forums is for the Appalachian Trail hikers, and all of them made so many points relate to the AT and Hike.

SO hope that you can start finding some good points or statement about deaf itself in here, where we can learn about it and share our experience.

I agree that it would be interesting to have deaf discussions. I believe that it's best to start it yourself if you have that question, I'd be happy to participate. The thing is that overtime deaf people eventually become bored and talk about real life other than deafness.

For example, I went over the Entertainment board the past few days, and I thought--what a neat place because usually I discuss this matter over at other hearing-related sites, and it's nice to have a deaf community to chat about those issues.

There's not much discussion on the ci or oralism board because we know most will just have arguments, but it's nice to bring it up sometimes with something different.

The one thing that I do not like is the Penisarium board or too much sex-talk. I am not saying that I am a Prude, but I just become tired of the 'dirty-talks.' I also do not like the dirty emoticons--they are useless and nobody uses them. It is only impressive that they cam make those emoticons using smily faces, but it really is too far.

I would hope that you bring up questions around the boards as I don't think of what you want to know. Hope you are more aware! : D

I would also say to try other boards such as **********.com and deafonlin2.com. The Kerry and Bush issue is not going to ever stop. Some people are really political. They do exist and rarely ever stop..after all..this is America..isn't it?

I'll try to be more aware of more deaf questions--thanks for bringing it up.

Thanks for the wonderful input. I agreed with you entirely. When I observe the emoticons and agree that it went too far. It give bad impression for other people to think its okay to curse or to use profanity in forums. It will create numerous of senseless topics later on.

I will start some new threads on deaf related issues and start evaluating them to see if they will get a lot of response. This is way how deaf people can learn how to defend themselves or to understand the community better. That way, its a good education outside school.

I will come back this week to create several threads.. :mrgreen:

HelloKittyGal, BabyPhat21 will explain...I would've, but I don't know the specifics behind the reasons -- all I know it was just a few good reasons for this.

I belong to about 8 deaf forums and all of them spend most of their time
discussing non deaf related issues. People are people in this forum. Most are
deaf, some hearing and they have a lot more going on in their lives then deaf related issues.

People feel comfortable coming here and posting about their lives which includes all aspects of it
 
I must admit that I am tired of debate about oral verus ASL Pro and Con cochlear implants on the children for years and years...

Debate sometime makes me depress and angry. I do not need all those fucking crap debate about oral and ASL, deaf and mainstream schools, cochlear implants, etc....

I am so sick of cochlear implants !!! I am proud to be Deaf since birth. I do not need to listen any better technology for cochlear implant.

I came to this Deaf forms because I need to some laugh. It is a good medical for our psychological.

I am so TIRED of debate for years and years other forms !!! I am retired to discussing about the cochlear implants. Medical pressure is very hurtful to this society !!!

That form is extremely pathetic !!! This :dizzy: owner (deafonlin2.com) needs to be in mental insititue hospital. We do not need to hear any more bull shit about the cochlear implants !!

Other form was shuted down due to hateful each other. It caused the members become more depress and lost their self-esteem. We do not need this anymore bullshit debate. We do not want to ruin this BEST Deaf form.

If you do not like this form, you do not need to complain !!

Actually, what I like about this place is the wide spectrum of topics that come up. I came here at the end of January and expected to see a bunch of folks talking only about hearing aids, cochlear implants, deaf vs. hearing, and other issues strictly surrounding the deaf community. I was surprised, but pleasantly, to see that AllDeaf wasn't only limited to that, but also had so many more topics that hearing folks could also relate to. My husband, who is hearing, also joined up.

But even better - I've made some really good friends here - (you know who you are!!!!) - and I wouldn't trade this place for any other. Out of all of the forums that are out there, only two in my opinion are worthy of sticking around.

Bottom line is - the people are friendly, the administrator has done a wonderful job maintaining the place, and it's enjoyable. If there's a thread or a topic that I don't agree with or have no opinion on - I simply do not post.

meet yet? I recall that Cheri was coming to NY to see you guys?...
if so, did you all have a good time?

Just because this forum is AllDeaf that is where all deaf people meet and learned from their daily Lives it does not have to be all realted deaf...If you look at all other deaf forums out there there some of them bashing out on eachother and insults each other for the heck of it now tell me what is so Fun about that? Here we do not do that cuz We all want a friendly forum. If someone wants to come in here stir up problems then go to another forum and act like a child all I care.

Nothing seems to be boring when we are discussing about Kerry vs Bush, Animal Bites etc. It is something we all learn and see what each of us think and have fun. AllDeaf is my second Forum I met some great people here and I wouldn't trade it for anything in the world.
 
I have been browsing this alldeaf before I sign up in April. Reasons I like this alldeaf is because people are friendly and give some feedback, it's an education to anyone who share their feedback and advices as well like I got good advice from roadrunner for my proposal to my fiancee few months back... if you just sit back and see what we are, we are a community where we help, give feedbacks and advices or their opinions... I admit some threads i did not like I simply don't post and look for one I am interested to post or wanted to share my opinions. This is best deaf forums I have seen ever.. and I'd not trade anything for this!!! :ily:

and also, these member come here to talk about their lives, problems, because they are comfortable to tell in here and we all here help them as well... with comforts... I would not tell about my story of proposal if I did not think i was comfortable enough to share the world with.... but I was comfortable enough and trust them... :D

Yes, one of the biggest reasons I like Alldeaf is b/c there is a whole lot of fun subjects and a variety of discussions. It would be pretty dull if it was just hearing aids and CI talk....I do like those discussions as they tend to raise some very interesting questions, but again....it would be pretty dull if the only things we talked about were hearing aids, CIs and Deaf culture and things like that.
I have to say....I do agree with HKG....the Penisariam forum is kind of immature and people post retarded stuff there. Other forums I hang out at, the sex forums are more discussion based...whereas here it's " He he he...I have a big penis!" or talk about KINKY stuff. I like sex...who doesn't? But the people here talk about and treat sex like they are still in elementary school!

Hey there.. I wish I could drive down to visit all of you but 5 hours away from my home. :( If I am not working, then it would be different story. ;)
 
I do like to chat the wide general news or anything than CI or so.. Since there is other forum who do discuss about ci or anything related with deaf issues that i can go over there. But I like this forum to be neutral and mellow. I can relax without getting boiled in my stomach because i am sure that most of us have lots of bad experiences with our past. We need to chill out by coming here and enjoying ourselve. Thats my opinion.. If you want to discuss about CI or deaf issues then you can always go to the other forums. That is no problem. ;)
