All about electric cars!

Electric Smart drop price $5,000 off and lease $139 per month on a three-year, 30,000 mile lease. :cool2:

Smart's Fortwo ED leasing for $139/ month, battery rental included

Taking the US-bound Smart Electric Drive for a spin (video)

I rode in a rental Smart Fortwo, gas version and its okay car. It doesn't handle rough road well. Its surprisly roomy in the car, least for 2 people. It has weird automatic clutch, manual transmission. It behaves like a manual transmission.

Now that OPEC don't give a damn, we are seeing oil price in free fall once again making alternative fuel cars less attractive already, it had happened before and it happens again.

Really? Why pay more $ for electric car when gas car is cheaper and its getting cheaper with gas. This is exact what happened back in 70's when manufacturers trying to build electric cars in response to rising cost of oil, and they quit as soon as the cost of oil dropped.

Can drunks do the math? I am not quite sure about that one.

You must be drunk.

Electric cars from 70's are not exactly same technology as today. :slap: 70's was junk due very SLOW (max 25-30 MPH) and awful short trips.

Did you know that electric cars price dropped down already?

Around $3 to fully charge an all-electric car comparison $40 to full tank for gasoline car. Do a math.

Every fleet driver has to fuel his own cab. Those drivers love the hybrids, which can return 25 to 30 mpg in hard city use--against the 10 to 12 mpg achieved in Crown Vics for big city. I see hybrids anywhere around in the Chicago.

and the price will go up again too. it's winter season.... cheap gas.... everybody knows this. and everybody knows this phase will be short-lived.

free fall? nope I don't think so. they've been doing this for many decades. it's all part of complex game involving some very powerful wealthy people.

That's correct. That's why I called him drunk.

Also gasoline got vapor so easy during hot weather.

For the example: Truck left TX with 1,000 gal of gasoline tank from TX then arrived to IL and it's around 900 gal which lost 100 gal of gasoline during hot weather due high vapor.

During winter, gasoline got much less vapor.

yep. because of that.... we have 2 types - summer-blend (more expensive) and winter-blend (cheapppppp).

Read the link from Times I just post earlier. Manufacturers were forced to slash cost of electric cars in response falling oil prices.

A year ago, oil was around $100 a barrel, now its 65 dollars a barrel, have NOTHING to do with summer or winter blend. Its OPEC decision keep production level at same, that kills value of oil, nothing to do with summer or winter!

$3.00 to fully charge E cars? Are you sure? I don't believe it because there is no meter showing how much it draws. You can't get more energy out of a given energy by type of fuel. Don't forget EV gets about 60 miles in range max, you could fill gas powered car for then 40, but now it is 30 dollars and you could go at least 400 miles out of a tank

I am NOT drunk, you guys are!

DEAD WRONG! Guess you haven't watch Oil futures yet. It is dropping and keep dropping, have nothing to do with summer or winter.

Show me where that I said it (Oil prices) won't rise ever again?

Once everybody get back to gasoline as usual, the price WILL rise no matter what, it is all business decision, OPEC do NOT want lose their own production to elsewhere, if they see any threats that would hamper their production, they will push the production in attempt to retain customers into thinking its cheaper to stick with OPEC than try something else. Its game they are playing. I have seen it since 1970's to now, it has not changed! In eyes of OPEC, alternative fuel cars is a threat to their production and that is the fact.

there you go.... all for more reasons why people will buy gas efficient/fuel alternative/hybrid/electric cars....

No, you STILL don't get it, once market for alternative fuel dies down, OPEC just cut production. You need to do research more to see for yourself. Its same old pattern since 1970s.

I am tired of you. :bye:

LOL! wow as if this oil market can be explained and understood by a simpleton LOL!

According to the U.S. Department of Energy, the number of alternative fuel vehicles, or AFVs, in use nationally “has been increasing steadily during the past 15 years, largely due to federal policies that encourage and incentivize the manufacture, sale and use of vehicles that use non-petroleum fuels.”
