I'm not surprised about this article. I've always known that when there's an accident involving a drunk driver, it's the drunk driver that has a higher chance of surviving.
Part of it is due to the body's response to the accident. Our body tenses up quickly when we get hit. That tension causes more damage at impact. When you're drunk, your body doesn't tense up as fast or at all.
Ever eat deer meat? If you kill a deer from regular hunting, the meat will be delicious and tender. If you hit a deer and kill it with your car or truck, the meat will be tough and too chewy (like a taffy candy that you can't swallow). It happened with a friend of mine. He always hunted deers. We had some of his meat. Later, he hit a deer with his truck and killed it (by accident). We had that meat as well, and it didn't taste as good.
