Al Sharpton arrested....

Following in the footsteps of numerous other protesters who have had the courage to stand up against civil rights violations.

When you think about it, 50 bullets going into an unarmed man is overkill.

You're my hero, Banjo. You definitely have a way with words.

Long ago and for another thread, I served as a civilian expert on a police shooting board. This isn't an isolated occurrence.

Sharpton made sure he got the kind of exposure needed. He got it . . . and that's civil rights?

Folks, the guy is dead and, yes, it does seem that the response is exorbitant. Let's listen to the flip side . . . no? Oh, yes, I forgot . . . the flip side is not politically correct.

Sorry . . . when racial profiling (such as a middle easterner buying a last-minute airplane ticket) is a horrible thing to employ, we should NOT take pre-cautions . . . that is the rule of the thumb now.

Let's see . . . oh, yes . . . typical circumstance but, that one time, it was "extenuating cirucmstances" . . . so all the past experiences should be thrown out? Yes . . . that is the argument with

Al Sharpton. Ah! Sharpton! He is a man of the people! He has, absolutely, no self-interest and his motives remain to be pure!

:barf:

Gee, I don't trust the police or cops nowdays. They are corrupted!

You don't remember the Tawana Brawley and Duke "rape" hoaxes?

If the people protesting the cop shooting want credibility for their cause, the last person they should embrace is Al Sharpton.

Yes, I remember them. And exactly what does that have to do with this man who was shot 50 times?

Politics. Don't be so shocked . . . OMG . . . you've been had, too?!?!?! And I thought you were intelligent. *sigh*

And exactly what does that have to do with a man whowas shot 50 times. Sharpton wasn't the only one arrested. Perhaps youdon't see anything wrong with 50 bullets unloaded into an unarmed man, but I certainly see it, as Banjo so aptly put it, as overkill.

Sharpton is not protesting out of courage for someone's rights; he's doing it for his own aggrandizement.

If the people protesting the shooting want to be taken seriously, they need to steer clear of Sharpton. Sharpton's involvement taints the protest.

I'd say they are being taken pretty seriously. I personally can't determine Sharpton's motives. But you might want to keep in mind, he is not the one that wrote the headline or the story. But it certainly would appear that he has some members of AD concentrating on his involvement rather than the issue at hand....which is an unarmed dead man with 50 bullet holes.

An unarmed man exiting a building "a Queens nightclub suspected of narcotics, prostitution and weapons violations" and said that he was going to get a gun.

You'll discount that. I'll discount that.

It's politics, darlin'. Don't be so surprised.

Sharpton in the equation = Wikiedpia for Jillio

Going to get a gun can hardly be equated to being armed. Suspected is just that...suspected.

I tells you, believer, that I was not gonna get a gun when theys done tolds you that I was gonna get a gun! (They's have every reason to lie too . . . like lose reputation, pention, and all . . .)

I ain't done nothin' they done tolds youse I was gonna do.

Alls they done told you is lies.

LIES, I tells you . . . and you's got the science to prove it, too!

Well, the thread title and story headline are about Sharpton, so that's to whom I'm referring. It's a shame that the major focus is on Sharpton, but that's what happens when he gets involved.

Agreed. The issue should not be that Sharpton was arrested, but why he was marching with the other protesters. To protest the shooting of an unarmed man.

Huh? Are you talking about Sean Bell? He wasn't shot 50 times, He was struck four times, another guy was shot 19 times and then another guy was shot 3 times. i feel bad that it had to happened to an unarmed person, but he did stated about getting a gun in front of an undercover officer in a bar. He would have been alive today if they followed the three strike law, Wasn't he been arrested three times before?

hundreds of demonstrators blocked traffic to protest the acquittal of three detectives in the 50-bullet shooting of an unarmed black man on his wedding day.
