I agree with you. For my future kids. I will do that same thing you said. When I was 7 years old. I loved to watch a cartoon on tv. My mom know, I didn't want to miss the favorite show. She let me stay at home for half hour. She picked my dad up from work. I was good girl. They do trust me. I always good behave at home.
For my kids. It depend on my fiance because he will be a father. We have to discuss together. I don't like to be neglect my kid. Other wise my cousin left kids alone when she was on drug and crack user. Their neighborhood called the police on her for left her kids alone at home for all night. She went to prison for charge of Neglect Dependants.
7 years old is way too young to stay at home alone. If CPS found out, you could have been taken away from your parents and put into a foster home.
Here in Texas, the youngest age allowed to stay at home alone is 12 years old.
I was in 80's. My mom left me for 15 to 30 min and come pick my dad up from work. I know how to care of myself. Now I know about CPS's rules. My parents let me to stay at home when I was 11 whatever I want. They are good parent to me. My parent never have a welfare at all. I don't live in Texas. I live in Indiana.
Both of my boys were allowed to be alone at 9. I was alone when I was 8.
Doesn't matter how long or how short you were allowed to stay home, 7 years old is still WAY TOO YOUNG! Now you changed your age to 11 years old. I think you are LYING!

Seven or eleven years old. It doesn't matter. Both ages are still too young. I wouldn't let my neice or nephew stay alone by themselves until they were at LEAST 13 yrs old; maybe even 14 yrs old.
8 and 9 years old is way too YOUNG to be left home alone. If CPS found out that you were leaving your boys at home alone at 8 and 9 years old, they could have taken your boys away and put them in foster care.

It is different for every child; It depends on their maturity level and whether they know what to do in case of an emergency and how responsible the particular child is.
I don't think it gives anyone a right to judge other parents here for leaving their children home at the age of 9 or 10, or 11 unless you are parent yourself. If you are not then what do you know?
if it ain't illegal to leave 7 years old child at home in Indiana, then stop bugging Pinky. She doesn't live in Texas. If 7 years old is too young for you, then that's your opinion. Some kids at that age are even far more matured than 12 years old. My best friend (and also nemesis) was probably the most matured girl for her age (we're both same age) so no my parents wouldn't count on me to leave me home alone. I'd probably be out, making trouble :P and she had to stop me, kept threatening to rat on me to my mom .
