Age??? > A kid gets a cell phone?

I gave my son his first cellphone at age 9. He has ADD, so he'd wander off and forget the time. So I feel better that I can call him and be able to contact him at any given time.

The funniest thing is that I lost my phone before he did.

My daughter is 12 soon 13.. She is very mature and makes awesome grades.. As a parent I got the unlimited data, and texting plan our phones.(a major bill saver) I have talked to her and educated her about sexting and other things kids use the phones for. Educate, and teach your child not to abuse the phone and be an active parent to supervise your child's actions.

Right now my son doesn't have any texting or data capability on his phone. I blocked it from the get go so he doesn't have the temptation to even try it. And for now he is fine with it. The only people he calls are me, his father, his grandparents (my parents) and his eldest cousin. I am glad that he's like me...not a huge talker.

My oldest is 7 and in second grade. He asked me the other day how old kids have to be before they get a cell phone... I had to ask why before I answered his question. To that he replied, "so I can call my friends and play those cool games whenever I want..." (I'm sure he was referring to my iPhone)

I told him to talk to his mother...

once my sister told me that some people from Motorola talked to her and tell her that kids under 13 shouldn't use cellphones because it's kinda dangerous, I got mine at 15 and I hate the company because they don't have the right plan for me, and I mean... only text messages. They suck! lol
