I finally got my car back today! They put another used engine in and the old one, everytime I turn off the car, the engine shakes but this time, it doesn't shake at all and if I didn't have a warranty, I would have paid $1,730.75 :eek2: It's nice to drive my old car again!

That is great! Hope your used engine lasts you for a long time. Did they tell you how many miles did the engine have? The reason why the engine shakes when you turn off the engine is because the engine mounts are wearing away. So, I believe they replaced the engine mounts along with the used engine.

They didn't say how many miles the engine have but they did give me a warranty for the used engine (I forgot how long) so it's nice that I get my car back and I get a quiet engine, worth the wait

that is lot of money for a used engine and to have it installed. You should learn to do it yourself, get few friends to help you, buy a engine picker / hoist will cost about $150... you can buy basic tool set from Sears for $200 which should be all you need...and case of beer to keep your friends happy I put engines in cars / trucks all the time...of course its nice to have a car lift..to do the job..I just recently put a Rolls Royce Trent 800 on few days ago at work.. took 8 hours remove and install then did brake job later...

Yup, Cheaper that way but it's back breaking work. I swapped my old 67' chevy C10 smallblock 283 V8 engine to 79 Camaro 325 block w/ 350 heads (my friend modified the chevy engine for racing purpose but he only acclumated 20k miles before he abandoned it for his brother's Chevy 4x4. Sold it to me for $100 for dang good engine which he put in $4k on it 3 years before). My truck did smoke tires on 1st, 2nd, and 3rd gear (column shifter) which was pretty powerful. I also did rebuilt engine on 1990 Mazda Protege. It's a DOHC 4 cylinder engine and it's pain to hook everything up together after dropping engine in car cuz of tight spots. I had cramps on my hands sometime working on tight spot. Didn't have air tools back then tho. BOTH vehicles I've worked on was done by myself, no one helped me (many of my friends works). I learned to do tricks removing or installing engine without anyone help. I didn't complain tho but enjoyed working alone. My friends was mad at me for not asking for help.
