Advice needed. Please~!!!!

So I understand that you are in a panic of not being able to hear with your family. You had been hard of hearing or deaf for 46 years. That is a long time especially when you had a good analog hearing aid(s). Well, now there might be something new like digital hearing aid(s) that you can try. Maybe it might work for you.

I am puzzle that you have not use devices for the deaf to help you like doorbell (flash light) signaler, TDD (TTY) with the flashing light signaler or you can prefer to have videophone if you can sign ASL. I have use both of them doorbell signaler and TDD (TTY) for many years. I have not change from TDD (TTY) to videophone to communicate with Deaf people and use video relay for hearing people. Yes, things have change with new technologies. Why you refuse to use them?

Another thing is you should learn to accept your deafness, even if you have that for many years. You must accept your deafness on your journey through the years. You can not worry about why you can not hear in the hearing world. This is not your fault that you lost your hearing. Don't try to be like a hearing person which is way impossible for you to hear with hearing aid(s) as hearing aid(s) is not going to make you hear like 100% hearing. No, that is not going to work. It sound like you were late deafened. Being deaf in the hearing world is a challenge you have to take and learn to adapt to accommodations that you need to survive in the hearing world. If you have a hearing husband and hearing children, then you need to tell them that you are having hard time understanding him and the children. No one is perfect. If you are out in public, have people write down notes so that you can be able to understand what they are saying. Life is not easy for hard of hearing and d/Deaf people.

The best thing is to get help for your depression and worry about your hearing aid(s). Ask your audiologist about your problem with hearing aid(s). :(
