LOS ANGELES (AP) — Michael Clarke Duncan's fiancee says the Oscar nominee for "The Green Mile" has died while being hospitalized following a July heart attack.

Publicist Joy Fehily released a statement from Clarke's fiancée, the Rev. Omarosa Manigault, saying the 54-year-old actor died Monday morning in a Los Angeles hospital after nearly two months of treatment following the July 13 heart attack.

The 6-foot-5, 300 pound Duncan appeared in dozens of films, including such box office hits as "Armageddon," ''Planet of the Apes" and "Kung Fu Panda,"

Duncan had a handful of minor roles before "The Green Mile" brought him an Academy Award nomination for best supporting actor. The 1999 film, based on the Stephen King novel of the same name, starred Tom Hanks as a corrections officer at a penitentiary in the 1930s. Duncan played John Coffey, a convicted murderer.

He's probably one of my favorite actors and he’s almost in all movies that I liked - The Whole Nine Yards, The Green Mile, Sin City, and few others. It's sad to see him depart so early. :(

far out, thats real sad, 54 is young, and he's one of my favourite 'big actors', strangely talented, can look menacing and can look more like a guardian too.
Makes you think, even big people can die from heart attacks, i'd thought he'd be quite fit...

and yes The Green Mile is probably his best known performance no doubt.

Yeah, especially coming up Sin City: A Dame to Kill For which I believe his character have large role (need to look up comic book again).

54 is way too young. He seemed like a good man; prayers to his family and friends.

Yeah, it's sad but, he has marked his place here on the earth among million of us. Farewell, Michael Clarke Duncan.
 
I got the news from my local news through my phone. Its so sad. He will be dearly missed. :(
 
People who die should constantly remind us of our fragile mortality as our life is, but a vapor that appears for a little time and then vanishes away.

Michael Duncan was an incredible supporting actor in the acclaimed film "The Green Mile."
