I emailed these guys on February 3rd and heard nothing, and then emailed them again to make sure everything was set and they're not going to provide one. I mean, I'll still go and have fun, but I was hoping to actually understand the whole show. Emails below for anyone interested. Don't ever try to see a show at TD Bank in Boston

Hi,
I never heard back and want to confirm that there will be an ASL interpreter available. I don't necessarily need them to do all the songs, but will need all the spoken pieces before/after done.
Do you need me and my friends ticket numbers or any additional information? Where do I need to go to meet up with them?

Was the Feb. 3 email your first contact with them? I don't see in it your specific request for an interpreter.

Shoot, no. I thought I had, but it's not in my email that I can find. I've been working on an earlier show that told me flat out no back in February, so we've been going back and forth on that one and this one slipped through the cracks I guess I'm obviously new at this, huh?

If you anticipate attending future events at this place, you might want to touch base with an interpreting agency and make your case with them. Then, they can proactively approach the management of the venue and present their services to them, along with prices, timelines, ADA requirements, etc. Then, next time an event is scheduled that you are interested in, you can send a request to the venue, and send a copy to that agency so they can offer their services for that specific event.

Interpreting agencies are businesses, the venue is a business, and most users of the venue are businesses. As experienced professionals, they should be able to work things out. As an interested consumer, it might be up to you to get the ball rolling.

I used to work for an active interpreting agency that went around the community presenting their services in order to get contracts with businesses. Sometimes they even offered free "sample" services to attract business.

A couple more tips: Any time you need an interpreter, try, as best you can, to give as much advance notice as possible, get everything in writing, and follow up early and often. Then, if you do get the service you want, provide feedback to the agency and venue.

No guarantees but maybe these suggestions will help you in the future.
