Botts, I don't know how to say but potato crisps? Is it the correct context?
Not french fries, really.
DHB, yeah! (I'm going to be fat by the end of the vacation )
The chips was better than nothingPotato crisps are chips here. Also I think Pringles might be crisps everywhere. They are prepacked and not cooked fresh.
So I guess you had a bad of chips or crisps. Your USA trip will be worth it.

Botte, You know Arthur Treather s Fish & 'Chips'. Why is British called chips for fried fries?
Actually, there is a distinct difference between ''French Fries'' and ''Chips''.
Chips are actually much larger than French Fries, normally, that is. I would know, I live here, even though I am not, technically British.
And ''Fish & Chips'' is such an old meal that it's, in a way, a tradition.
It has existed in Britain for a long time, (since the 1800's) and it's very nice actually. Even better than McDonald's, and more filling.
The English were fascinated by ''French Fries'', and they decided to bring it along to Britain, where they re-named it to ''Chips'', and made them larger. And then, for some reason I don't know, people started eating them with fish. And so, ''Fish & Chips'' came to be.
It's even not that unhealthy when eaten every once in a while.
Hope this helped.
