A Techie Thread About Absolutely Nothing!

Got it all at Office Depot. I might have been able to get the cheaper online somewhere or even cheaper if I built it myself, but I found that doing it this way was easiest and less stress for me.

I have to check out some decent YouTube videos to see how they are, but just so you know, I had a choice of VGA or DVI connections for my monitor and AshArp suggested DVI for the better graphics. Boy do I love this!!!!

Right, more newer monitor have varible choice of how you want to connect, VGA, DVI, HDMI and sometime "S" video. Yes DVI is awesome.

Okay - had this question before and I need to ask again.

We are no longer using Real Player as I was told there were a lot of viruses and such. I know VLC was recommended, but now my daughter tells me that after so many downloads, you can't use it for free anymore.

Is there a video player, that will allow you to download YouTube videos and play them at a later date for free?

Congratulation on your new PC desktop. :D

Heard back from the computer repair shop for my Acer. I did have a video card that was separate from the on-board video card and that was also corrupted so it is being replaced for $39. I will get that Acer back later today.

The tech guy did say that they had run all kinds of tests and this should be it. He said he took some of my components out and put them in a "dummy" test machine that is identical to mine and tested each component individually. So, it's motherboard and video card.

Tried looking and I can't find it from the "Tools, Extensions" area. Will try just googling it.

Found it that way and it is downloaded and installed. Thank you very much. Daughter sends hugs.

or it would also help to have one as a neighbor too like Reba
I hope to be more useful in the future.

I've registered to go back to school. :eek3:

My major will be Computer Technology-Information Systems Specialist.

If all goes well with scheduling, I hope to start with the Maymester. If not then definitely by Summer semester.

My plan is to fulfill each certificate requirement (there are three available), then finish up with requirements for the associate degree.

Still in the process of getting all the transcripts. I attended four colleges, and have degrees from three. Three of those colleges have since changed their names! (They've been upgraded from 2-yr college to 4-yr, and from college to university.) Now I'm adding a fifth college. :giggle:

TCS, my daughter, and my eldest grandson will also be attending (all different majors).

I'm going to apply for every scholarship possible. Also, I may also be able to get some classes free as a senior citizen, on space available (for credit). As a part-time employee I hope to snag some additional discounts. :D

It's a one-month (May) semester, between Spring and Summer semesters. It goes super fast. Each class meets M-F, for three hours.

One of my previous colleges used an Interterm. It was for the month of January, same idea. I took one class during that period. One course is about all you'd want to do during a one-month class because the pace is very fast.

I'm used to them. In the Navy, I would be sent to two-week courses that were the equivalent to a semester's work (40-hour-per-week classroom time plus homework assignments).

Summer semesters here are also quick pace but not so bad as the Maymester pace. :)

I'm going to try to get as many courses on-line as possible. That way, if I do get called in to work, I won't have to quit my classes. I can just do my courses around my work schedule.

oooooo that. yep I prefer that over traditional pace. I simply do not have time and attention span for 3-months semester :dizzy:

That will be awesome! Good luck with that! However if you have difficulty finding a job in your area, let me know! Since our company have wide range of resources including military services and even we have many opening position, mostly require security clearance but just happen to found one now that just recently opened that doesn't require security clearance. It maybe filled by the time you finish your course work.. but let me know anyway..
