Have you experienced any frustration or inconvenience when visiting the hospital, the doctor's office, receiving and paying for treatment? If so, what happened?
Yes, mainly regarding interpreter services. The hospitals I've been to made it hard for me to get an in-person sign language interpreter every time. VRI has its uses, but when it's related to my health, I want an interpreter on site.
For public hospital - sometime interpreter is no show for the appointment even the public hospital have booked the interpreter for my appointment.
Never pay the fees at public hospital as there no charges under universal health care. Universal Health Care - Medicare is covered by taxpayers for all Australians, Permanent Residents and NZ Citizens.
Family Doctor - never pay fees either under Medicare. I can now arrange booking interpreter using NDIS to pay for interpreter booking. (National Disability Insurance Scheme).
Where as previously - it is either out of my own pocket for booking interpreter as it used to be covered by government fund for Deaf people who is not eligible for NDIS for under age of 65 year old for Health care only - Former Australian Government back in 2021 removed this funds for booking interpreter for normal Doctor appointment ie family doctor clinics.
