60 is cold? Last week (Since I don't have heat) it was 10-15 degrees in my room when I woke up. I was late to work as I obviously didn't want to get out of my cold bed and into my near arctic room.

You should take it to a drag strip, last time it cost me $40 for a whole nights. Well worth it but near me you need a 1 or 2pc leather gear.

Of course a sport bike would take out most cruisers in a race, cruisers aren't for racing, nor do you see hardly any ( MAYBE one, and I sincerely doubt even one ) out racing ever. Cruiser riders have them to cruise around, not to be out racing. If I wanted to race I'd buy a GsxR or something equivalent. Sport bikes are light weight and meant to race, cruisers... well cruisers aren't. Though I've definitely seen some custom cruisers that would beat the snot out of some sport bikes with no issues.

I said most cruisers, not all. :P Just making a point that sport bikes ( for the most part ) Tend to be light weight and built for speed whereas a cruiser is much heavier and not typically built for speed. Just covering the differences of most, definitely not all... including the Rune which there are like... not many of at all. :P
 
Random thing,

This weekend I removed the baffles from my shadows exhaust with a circle cut out drill piece... Let me tell you, I should have done this sooner... it... is... AMAZING! :D

The Buell started out as a cool small bike for beginners or very short people....but, like all Buells, they had potential, but since Harley-Davidson had Erik Buell on a very short leash, he was forced to use Harley's parts bin only and had a limited budget, so the Buell Blast turned out to be a real piece of shit.

Go to any MSF courses, and the bike that no one wants is usually the Blast.

If you want a small bike to learn on, but don't want a cruiser, there are now a few choices out there.
 
I know a lot of people here take the MSF courses mainly on Honda Rebels. My brother took his on a Blast. He said it was the most terrible thing he's ever ridden! :laugh2: I took mine on a rebel, which wasn't terrible though. :P I just wouldn't be caught dead owning a 250 personally... to each their own though. :P

I took MSF on a Honda Nighthawk, but when I was looking for my bike when I got my license, I wasn't getting anything under a 500 and a ZX-600 seemed like a bad starting bike..lol
 
Engine displacement does not necessarily make a bike faster or slower, or whether it is a good starter bike or not.

Honda makes a 250cc that is a lot faster and has a higher top speed than a 1100cc Shadow. Aprilia makes a 250cc sportbike that will do 180mph.

A bike's weight and overall size is what you should be looking at when shopping for a starter bike.

Don't let that myth fool you: "I need more power to get away from trouble"...

Proper riding skills and accident avoidance maneuvers will help you out of situations more than a powerful engine. Look at the statistics: 50% of motorcycle accidents are riders wiping out on their own, the rest are cars pulling out in front of them as well as other freak accidents. Will a big engine make other people stop cutting in front of you? Of course not.

you're talking about those 250cc Grand Prix types, these are two strokes...

it's illegal for learners to ride those here in NZ..and rightfully so, its lethal!, i've ridden a few of those back in the days when it was popular, shit man these bikes are FAST, no time for day dreaming...an RG400/RG500 were bad too
 
do they have Ducati 659/ 696 in USA? the idea is if i have one here, get used to it, then get a similar bike (buy or rent in US then I'd be riding a bike im familar with)
