a few questions and thoughts about Deaf people and music!

to c.c. sinned:
everyone loves cheesy porn!!! haha ;)

mariano:
yeah i like those too! house has only grown on me very recently. i used to all like "blah house is not that cool" but i do like some now.

I like electronic music, especially anything that sounds different from commercial music. I guess I could say that I am into experimental, industrial, ambient music. But, I also like oldskool trance, goa, etc.

I used to use music as a tool to help inspire my creativity when I was doing design stuff.

I still collect, and I still listen to music. But, I find that I don't enjoy my music like I used to. I mean, music sounds fine, but I just feel something is missing even though I can hear the music.

No, I wouldn't want to be locked up in a sound proof room with music blasting from the speakers. :) I think you can call it torture. :) Besides the risk for losing what is left of your hearing, I don't think constant heavy vibrations can be good for your body. :)

Anyway, here is a link regarding deaf and music. Happy reading! :)

Music and the Deaf

well i have i computer speakers with built in subwoofers so i can feel it very good actually, like very intensely. i had my hands on the backs of them where the subwoffers are and i ran a ton of songs through the feel test and was very discerning about wich ones i picked and wich ones i weeded out.

Souggy had already informed me that his computer speakers were quite adequate to feel the music thru, as was mentioned above... and said i should reccomend some electronic stuff.
so i put them up for him.

i only put up songs that were recorded with high end technology that picked up all the freuquencies, low and high.

i only included songs where every sound was represented.

i only put songs up that i could feel every note. so honestly it is not just bass...
what you are feeling is guitar, vocals, random electronic sounds, saxaphones, trumpets etc... and yes drum and bass.

and if you are not feeling it then it is because of your computer speakers... and not my lack of understanding of what can and cannot not be felt through speakers that are appropriate for this type of thing... so yes you "really can experience music as vibration over a computer speaker."

next year maybe id do a small project, like these pictures below;

coffee table subwoofer.....and with this re-route the circuits from the old favourite Sound Blaster 5.1 system from Creative darn it ever those they are cheapie - they had great tones! with clarity like you wouldnt expect from 5$ cones made in taiwan. I dunno all depend if my tinnitus condition improves (and awaiting CI if THAT is successful im completely game to make this) all depends and dammit yes - i like I've forgotten (agrrrgh) all those terms im 40 not exactly 30 as i was a 20's in the 2000' but a 20's in the 90s....)

But I wonder what is the enjoyment of feeling this vibration?

music is in the feelings, try match it with your mood, elevating? brooding? story-telling of the spot or off another time in memory or fantasy?

grummer,
i like the fancy table with subwoofers. very cool. i wish i had a waterbed connected to a subwoofer... um to feel the music through that is. ha it just sorta sounded a bit dirty. heehee. i think it would be cool to fall asleep to. :)

Hey, Grummer, will you do a step-by-step procedure of the subwoofer table?

I still have yet to replace mine... I miss mine. :( I wish the mice didn't chew the bloody wires inside it.

what exactly do you mean by step by step? it is a quite an involved task.

if you meant where to get plans, (there is 2 versions, a free plan and a more refined audiophile grade that sells for USD$32 for the blueprint only)

here is the link about the wicked one subwoofers

when guys says drivers, they means the actual speakers, plate amps is actual amplifier, it is exactly that amplifer circuit as a bare unit, not cased and on a square/rectangular metal plate (hence the plate). the rest well not hard to figure out , when in doubt ask.

You would need to investigate on what woofer cones to get, and what options for amplifiers and crossovers to use to power this. I could give you my opinions but in NZ where I am, we just different voltages and there would be more headaches for me in picking out the cones. But for you - I imagine it be easier, since you would have better access to those parts described in this website, and related forums about building those. I might have to say this, it is not a case of finding a coffee table and adding the sides, and screw in the speakers, it is an actual construction of the its own, indeed does looks like a table, but no you would not want to use it as a table!!

Folded horn speakers is something I plan to have a help of my freind who is a cabinet maker by trade. Also I am in New Zealand theres no way i could hop on the plane over to you to help (I would but i arent that rich lol, even if i was I still wouldnt BUY a shop-bought subs, I know this from experience I had already got a Straight 8s speakers built and it is way way better than I expected. This sort of undertaking to build a coffee table subwoofer is so involving,
ALOT of head work to do when comtemplating this sort of project. I had to learn to solder and it arent that easy when every thing is self-taught, as does picking out the valves (NOS tubes) for the rest of the stereo.

But if you're still interested, I can try give you ideas and then you weight up, the options otherwise it would be better for you to do it like normal people would.
hope i havent offended you, im willing to help anyway possible within reason but to me mindful it isnt as easy as 1,2,3- though it can be done if you are determined..

hope all this helps..
Cheers

No worries. Just thought if you can do a tutorial, or got the time to write one, you can share with the rest of us.

From the sound of it, it is something that I can learn to do, however will become so distracted by other things in life, if I am not following a step-by-step manual, that it would just become another project that take up space and not be completed. I think I rather hire an audiophile to wire these things up instead.

Thanks Grummer. :)

you mean an audiophile to wire/solder up the wicked one?
or repair your current set up?

Deaf Rap and Gangster hand Sign Languge fake gang.

Who Deaf people love Rap or Rap Gangster what how hand sign language cause hearing the people gang not know look deaf male or female hand sign think look like really gangstar sign language hand for deaf people not common who the people rap gang attack deaf target rap or hand Sign language fake rap gang not destory deaf people of the race myster deaf culture.:wtf:

The wicked one. ;)

yeah, I may do this next year, all depends if my tinnitus gets under control. If I actually do, I would be very fussy to make sure its constructed correctly. That is to make sure it is built solidly with proper use of clamps/weights during the gluing process because of the viberations i dont want this unit to rattle loose apart. So in saying this now, I'd caution you abit (not to scare you at all, just have be aware in mind that it would need to be made properly, no short cuts with glues and dont do it with 'nail glues'. Insist on using woodglue, and screws where appropriate, follow everything they say in the plan (wo or wo32) and everything should be fine.

The best way to experience vibrations of music, would be to stand barefoot on a wooden stage, while lots of tympani were played.

That would actually be interesting.
