A deaf person can be a semifinalist with poetry

First of all, I like to say congratulation to deaflinuxgeek. You should be proud that you did making your own accomplishment. Bravo!

Your parent are being so selfish and control that they dont have any respect for you and your own deafness. Thank you for bringing it up because there are many Deaf children went through the same thing like you did for many years by their parent's own negative / nasty audist attitude. Isnt that sad? Sighs!

Keep up with your beautiful poems. I love it.

I am truly impressed, Deaflinuxgeek. Very well written. I grew up as a deaf child with parents who had an audist attitude, until they came to the realization of the harm it had done to me. As a result, I understand where your most recent poem is coming from.

It includes interviews with ABC 20/20 and NBC news and different magazines and shows how everyone is a semi-finalist in several online poem contests including www.poetry.com (International Library of Poetry) as long as the poem is under 20 lines, even a whole classroom of 2nd graders got selected as semi-finalists (some students only put two lines in their poems). Then they ask for your money to have it published in a book.

i knew its too good to be true..

starrygaze already paid to go to the poetry convention... u better get a refund back.. not worth to go ... its just a scam!!! sigh..
 
the publishing and the convention are a scam, the awards I have received. So I am not lying at all, I dont pay them zero money, If I do get an award I ask them to send to a certain company in my town and then i get them that way.

couple weeks ago my mom and I had talked about and both think this might be rip off and scam. Finally SmileyGin found.

Fundraiser helped me to pay my trip to the convention. I could not afford pay motel and foods in few days? July 1 is deadline to lose the refund. Tomorrow, I will go to discuss with my dad and mom about that. I am glad that SmileyGin discovered the scam before I would be stuck in Las Vegas for nothing.

I am bit of shock.

did u pay 49 dollars for the book?? if you did so.. then its a scam!


starrygaze did pay 49 dollars to get his poem in book.. jeez.. rip off! he never get money?? i found out not suppose to pay anything.. they r suppose to give u MONEY.. so obiviously its just a scam! thats all??? sigh..
 
I realized that its scam because poetry.com lures people to spend alot of money that give to winners. I feel bad. I am invited to read my poem. Ely Howard wanted me to come and read my poetry in front of people. My mom said Ely needed my full name for awards and anothers. I am scared. They already have interperter for me. That is all. I should get refund I am afraid that my people, who help my poem trip raise fund, will be upset. What can I do?

yeah but what if they will not pay the interpreter.. YOU WILL HAVE TO? never know...
 
I never go to the conventions or the books, I always tell them if you have an award please send to a certain company. And then I pick them up. that is all and no I don't pay for the books but my friend is there too with the contest and books she got 1 of the books but never got the second one, I tried to warn her.

Just explain to them that i found out it is a scam and they just wanted money- nothing more. It is better to give money back to Walmart fundraising.. They can donate for other causes like Relay for Life, Breast CAncer awareness, and so on. It made sense to give them back as you are not going to the convention. ok? :)

What are you going to do with the money? I hope you will give the money back to Walmart and they can donate to other causes like Relay life and others. :)

I have won the crystal globe award!! now its on contest again with a new poem until the next award.
