CARROLLTON, Ga. — Carrollton police found a baby sitter accused of feeding a 9-month-old boy wine, causing his blood-alcohol level to exceed four times the legal limit for an adult.

Carrollton police Sgt. Tony Johnson says authorities have found 40-year-old Tammy Demice Truitt of Carrollton. She was being sought on charges of first-degree cruelty to children and reckless conduct.

Police say Truitt was called to watch the baby and four other children ages 3 to 9 earlier this week when their mother had to leave town to care for a sick relative who has since died.

Doctors said the baby's blood-alcohol content of .33 was considered a life-threatening condition.

Johnson said the baby was released from the hospital on Wednesday and is doing fine.

Id kill the bitch if it were my kid. Kid might have permanent damage.

Same here..I would have choked that bitch until she was begging for mercy.

It doesnt sound like an accident. It looks like a selfish person drugging the child so he falls asleep. Just pure evil.

Extremely stupid. I rather a baby sitter such as a friend or relative.

I just hate people like that. she needs her ass kick

 I'm glad baby is safe. If I were a mom, I'd certainly strangle that worthless babysitter to the death for doing this to my baby.

Obviously she purposely had the baby drunk on account of the fact that babies cries and they cry LOUD.

So it's easier for the baby to be drunk and asleep so she doesn't have to worry about frayed nerves.

She could have easily killed the baby from alcohol poisoning. She should have been charged for attempted murder in this stage. Then sterilized so she can't have kids for the rest of her natural life and put in prison for life.

I read about this being used in the 1800's and after for babies/children.... very shocking to me.....

A bottle of Bayer's heroin.
Between 1890 and 1910 heroin was sold as a non-addictive substitute for morphine.
It was also used to treat children with strong cough.

Maltine Wine.....(for anti-gas)
Produced by Maltine Manufacturing Company of New York. It was suggested that you should take a full glass with or after every meal. Children should take half a glass.

Opium for Asthma....
Vapor Oil treatment, 40% alcohol, Opium, 3 grains to a fluid ounce

Cocaine Toothache Drops
Very popular for children in 1885. Not only did they relieve the pain,
they made the children happy!

Opium for Newborns!
45% alcohol, 1/3 grain Opium each fluid ounce.
5 Days Old.........5 Drops
2 Weeks Old......8 Drops
5 Years old......25 Drops
Adults........1 Teaspoon

I'm sure this would make them sleep well (not only the Opium,
but 46% alcohol!!!)

I guess they weren't as aware of the effects as we are now.
