The answer is?
I would never in a million years invite hundreds of people to my house.

Please practise what you preach, kind sir.
You should utilize the ignore button on both jillio and deafdyke because your diatribe towards them requires an apology.
No way. They get the opportunity to tell us that we are lying about our kids, that we are making things up, that we care about nothing but their speech, and we are not supposed to respond? They can say that we are in denial about who they are and what they need, that we are "hyperfocused on therapy", that we are abusive and that our kids will grow up to hate us.
How is that ok?
Showcased CI kids. Do you believe everything they say? I personally know of a few CI users who admit that they lie to keep up the front. It is weird, but they do. It sounds like the CI kids are paraded in front of audiences and are afraid to tell the truth. Take them aside and TALK WITH THEM!
I never said 'at the same time'...

Like you aren't telling us that we are misleading our own children, setting them up for failure without a CI, telling us that without the CI, deaf children will be social miscasts?
Basically you just defined yourself and your behaviour to a perfect T.
Pot meet kettle, kettle meet pot.

I know thousands of deaf people too and they say that they love ASL and the Deaf community. So, you met thousands of deaf people who hate Deaf culture and ASL? Wow!

But Mrs, Bucket, with all due respect, while I'm sure many have encountered it elsewhere, the hearing parents of deaf kids on this forum aren't saying any of those things -- that kids without CIs are being set up for failure, will be social miscasts! Those are the things that are being said about the kids with CIs.

Yeah, because that is the same....."diarrhea of the mouth" is a phrase, people say it when someone just talks without thinking about what they are saying before they say it. And people call other who have outdated or old ideas "dinosaurs" as well. Both of those are common phrases that people use.
How is that possibly the same as saying that you personally are part of a group responsible for the systematic MURDER of 6 million people......
You really think that is equal?
With all due respect, there are pros and cons to a CI. From the hearing parents, we have not heard any cons. Not a single one. That is screwy.
Absolutely NOT. Both of my daughter's best friends are unamplified, Deaf of Deaf, ASL users. Their parents are thoughtful, engaged, and responsible. Their children will grow up to be wonderfully successful in everything they do. I would NEVER judge a parent for not implanting a child! I have reasons that I believe it was best for MY child, but they do not apply for all children. I would NEVER say that I know what is best for other people's children.

So they can come up with that conclusion on their own without any outside influences?
