I got this in the email today from a friend. It is a couple week old news, but I have not heard of this until now. Dang, will there be more of these incidences? I know that the food pantries are VERY low around here and I was wondering if you guys would be okay if the food supply was interrupted, such as being with a neighborhood farm collective or something similar?

Food Riots: 40,000 Hungry People Descend on Colorado Farm Seeking Free Food

Wow! I'll do extra shopping and bring the food to the food bank bin at work.

The food banks around here are running very low on supplies because so many more people are having to use their services. At the Coalition Against Domestic Violence, we also deal with some of the homeless women and children in the area, and we have seen a big increase of people being evicted and having no where to go. We have been giving out clothes and food in record numbers, as well. It is really becoming a desperate situation.

I would encourage anyone who can afford it, please donate a can or two of food to your local food banks. It will make a difference. We all need, during this holiday season, to remember those that are less fortunate, and do what we can to help.
