$213K a litre for just this bull's sperm.......I could buy myself a nice mini-mansion for this $


BERLIN (Reuters) - The world's best bull lives in Germany and breeders are lining up to buy his sperm, valued at about 180,000 euros ($213,000) a liter.



Lancelot, a four-year-old, 900-kg (1,984-lb), black and white Holstein-Friesian bull, came top in international rankings compiled by the Interbull Center in Uppsala, Sweden, his owners said on Wednesday.


His sperm was shown to produce the best milk-producing cattle in tests on 130 dairy cows he has sired, the Osnabrueck Herdbook Cooperative said.


One 0.25 milliliter portion produced from his sperm costs 45 euros. Andreas Kandzi, of the Cooperative, said Lancelot produces 2,500 portions of sperm a month.


Apart from years of comfort in a luxury stall, Lancelot can expect little long-term reward for his sought-after sperm.


He faces slaughter when he reaches six or seven. "Once they reach that age, the potency dips," Kandzi said. ($1=.8464 Euro

I'll give you an example.

Many ranchers likes to try to get the best kind of beef with good taste. Many of them are based on the genes. They like to try to find the best bulls and get their sperms. They use those sperms to inject into their cows (female cattle) so their calves would have those genes to grow with great steaks.

Some animals even do that. English Bulldogs are known for that. Horses, goats, sheeps, dogs, cats, and various of show animals are involved in this type of breedings.

I had a Stud horse who had nice black color. Someone offered to buy some sperms from my horse because it was a pure black Arabian horse. They had a female Arabian horse. They only knew of several male Arabian horses in where I was living. My horse was the only one of all (including females) that had full black color.
