1986 Challenger explosion

I was about 13 years old that time, and my social science teacher made us watch the news on television about what happened. I was perplexed at first but then the teacher explained more clearly and by then I understood. I thought it was just a movie at first. :o

that time was when we had schools closed in atlanta on snow day. i did see that happened on tv while i cleaned up my bedroom. when i saw it, i ran down to first floor and yelled at my mom to see if she did see it on tv. what a tragedy... i just never forget that.

I was about 16 years old when this happened.....a very sad day in high school when most of my class was watching it on TV. I remember the next day at school after the tragedy, thinking about the teacher that was up there when it exploded.

Oh Yeah, I do remmy. I was in 6th grade, we watched on tv when it exlploded and sent us back to our PE class, we played Kickball in the gym, after pe class, we went back and saw repeated news of Challenger exploding on tv. turned off the tv abt a hr later.

My sixth grade for hearing class broke down and cried so hard. She was friends with McAuffie. Dunno how she met McAuffie. She missed school for a week to attend her funeral.

I was 15, I was just watching it with my older sister and we were
shocked to see that explode!!!!
We cried.

I guess they won't show that on tv anymore and shocked everyone again.

Unless it is on the news... to warn us about that.

I was 16 when Challenger exploded. We were sitting in Microbiology, and the set was on in our classroom. My biology teacher was also in charge of the school's Space Shuttle club. She was making all of her students watch the launch that day. I remember watching and when it exploded, my mouth dropped open. I was completely speechless. When I got home from school, I went straight to the television and turned on the set. Again, I was dumbfounded at what had happened. I couldn't wrap my head around it. It had a profound affect on me that way.

I was only 6 months old when the Challenger explosion happened.

I was almost 16 and we were watching it in class.... many of the classrooms all over school were watching it. When the explosion happened, none of us knew what happened, but we knew something was wrong..... whole class was glued to tv and people had worried looks on faces. I'll never forget that day :(

I was two and a half years old at the time and I've had no recollection of the accident. Actually, never learnt about the Challenger and Christa McAuliffe, but I have heard of the names at different times. Now I can learn more about the tragedy.

I was 14 at that time I think. (I need do the math LOL!) When I was at school (can't remember which class I was in) and after class I met Natalie to go our homeroom class and told me what happened. I told her NO way. It can't be! She said yes...I was a bit confused and puzzled. So we went back to our homeroom class and teacher brought in the TV and showed it to us. I was dumbfounded! It was soo SAD! :( I will NEVER forget this!

I was in college when it happened. I was waiting for my teacher to arrive for class, and she drove into the parking lot outside of the classroom. She had her car radio on and told my class about it. Later that day, I checked my VCR tape for my favorite soaps, but ended up with a replay over & over on the Challenger explosion. I still have the tape somewhere.

I was 3 months pregnant and worked at the AFB. We were waiting for the Challenger to land on our runaway few days later. I was busying working when my coworker tap on my shoulder and told me about it then told me about my other coworker who just lost his uncle on that space shuttle. We were all shocked and quiet. I took a picture of it last time it landed. My son turned 3 that day and he was sick with cold. Never forgot that day.

You mean you were supposed to be working on the day when Challenger was supposed to land after launching into space for a few days? That's so sad about your coworker losing his uncle on *that* ill-fated shuttle. Which one was the uncle?
