Hello,
I just stumbled upon this forum I just wanted to make a post or a thread well b/c I want to have more friends that are like me.
I'm currently 17, I'm HOH since birth ( I have microtia) I Just wanted to make this to connect with ppl. I'm In mass if there are any more questions you want to ask away.

OMG!!! Are you attending TLC or the Newton North Deaf program? https://edcollab.org/programs/dhh/ There's also READS, and some other collbratives. If you want to have friends who are like you the best way is to take the plunge and attend Deaf School! I remember how bad it was and I'm almost 40. Some people seem not to understand that mainstream high school isn't exactly High School Musical. There's a bunch of options in MA if you want to take the plunge.... You could even dorm it and attend either American School for the Deaf https://www.asd-1817.org/ or MSSD http://www3.gallaudet.edu/mssd.html in Washington DC. Deaf ed is VERY friendly and welcoming to new signers. If you feel like it's too late to transfer, maybe you could take the plunge with Deaf Camp. There's state school based, Chirstian, Catholic, sports and traditional. deafdyke- HAHAHA, nice to know there is a couple of fellows members here in mass. Yes, it's kinda late in a junior in hs and yeah I'm in a mainstreamed school. But I did take an ASL class at TLC.

I thought you could request to attend MSSD as a senoir if you wanted.... You should look into it maybe

Most don’t always reply, and not all 90 are members with the ability to reply. Some of those viewer hits are people just viewing the site, and also bots, I believe. Don’t worry about it. Welcome.

That's here in MA? And if it is I don't know because I might as well stick it out in mainstreamed hs since I've been doing that my whole life

No. It's in Washington DC but is open to all dhh kids in all 50 states. http://www3.gallaudet.edu/mssd.html Just suggesting it b/c it could be an AMAZING program! TLC might be good but it also seems to be like they would expect you to be fluent for high school. Are you in the suburbs? Newton North has a program that would be new Signer friendly! https://edcollab.org/programs/dhh/ Too bad you didn't come here a couple of years ago. Check into doing your senior year. It really might be a lot of fun and make you attractive to colleges.... You know with all the "straight A kids" they're now looking for people who stand out.... So a kid who spent a year at a deaf school learning ASL could stand out. Yeah TLC is in the same town I live in so it'll be easier to go there. And for the Camps thank you ill look into it.

Oooo!!! Yeah, look into it....I actually would check into both that and the Newton North Program, and see which school might be a good fit for you! The camps would be AMAZING..... Check out American School for the Deaf's Iso Bella. It's in the Berkshires! You could also go to Gally or NTID for college! That would be AMAZING!

wouldn't it be too late to join the Newton North Program? since I'm going to graduate next year?
