    You Tell Me.

You are so right! You know, I heard of a couple who didn't tell ANYONE their child had downs syndrome until he was about 6 months old... not even their family. They wanted everyone to learn to love him and know him before they just thought of him as "the kid with downs syndrome." I think that...

What are you thinking about? Part V

I'm thinking next week will be really rough. As part of my child neglect and abuse class, we have to look at pictures of children who had been abused. :(

    You use that for WHAT?

Oh, and we save almost any plastic container with a lid to send leftovers home with people or just to store whatever. :)

    You use that for WHAT?

I have used my crochet hook to unclog the vaccuum cleaner. :giggle: I've uhhh... "repurposed" many craft supplies through the years. I've also learned that a craft glue called ModPodge can be used for a million things. It even keeps holes in clothes from getting bigger, and keeps the frayed...

Bill: No snacks for food stamp users

Yes, but I think what the teacher might want to do is actually teach kids to apply the knowledge to their life. It's great to know what foods are bad and what foods are good, but totally different when it actually clicks for a child and makes them look at their OWN lunch and make healthier choices.

Bill: No snacks for food stamp users

No, that's not mortifying. If the teacher says "who thinks their snack is healthy?" the children can choose to raise their hands or not. What's mortifying about that? :hmm:

    How do Deaf people drive?

Out of curiosity, do you think it would be rude to answer this question by saying "Well, first I put the key in the ignition..." :giggle:

    Question about ASL class?

Thanks for the suggestions!!! The classes area all about an hour and a half from me or farther, which is not an option for us... my husband and I are sharing one car. I joined the newsleter of the Indiana Association of the Deaf though, so we will see if they advertise any events in my area...

Bill: No snacks for food stamp users

I think you are totally missing the point of what the discussion is about. It isn't about the government checking each item in a lunchbox! It's about a teacher helping kids connect what they are learning in class (good nutrition) with their behaviors (what they put into their own bodies)...

    Question about ASL class?

 Just got an e-mail back from the university... They are planning to have the ASL class... in one or two years, when the class is approved by a thousand different committees. (Also after I graduate and have to find a job) When it does start, it will be an online class, so the students...

Long waits are ok after all....

Like Botti, I could wait, but I would need something to do as I waited... like crocheting as I talk to my Mr. Beloved. I'd definately wait if I was with him, because our lives are entirely too busy sometimes and having time to chat with him is priceless.

    Question about ASL class?

I hope we do! I e-mailed the chair of the department tonight to see what was happening, (she gave me permission to do that lol) so I hope she will reply soon with good news!

    Question about ASL class?

Hey I was just wondering if it is normal for an ASL class to have no interaction with the Deaf community or people who actually use ASL as their main language? We have a sign language class in our university communication disorders department, but it seems to be mainly for speech-language...

Why are hearing co workers so afraid to talk to deaf co worker?

I'm so surprised that two of you said this... where I have worked, you always tried to work out anything controversial before you involved a supervisor via CC. People who CC'd bosses first were considered to be really horrible people. :hmm: Different jobs, different attitudes toward behavior...

    Feralism

I think that what Grayma is saying is that not everyone who happens to enjoy studying the Bible is going to attack you. If the person invites you to a Bible study and you say no, it's all good. If they don't respect that decision, they aren't your friend, and you are free to tell them rude...
