Finally sold my house and closed the sale today.

I know Oil City is stable, but then you could get a house there for $50,000 during the bubble and prices are maybe $5000 less today. It's the affordable cities that have remained stable. If I keep waiting, previously unaffordable cities will become affordable again like they were before the bubble.

Question about stem cell used at Deaflympics

They require only 55db HL PTA. Someone who's profoundly deaf with 100db HL who improves to 55db HL would be HOH, yet still be eligable for deaflympics. If his hearing is better than 55db HL, he won't be eligable for deaflympics per their requirements.

Would you live in a mobile home?

The ironic thing is house prices have gone down more than 50% in the hardest hit bubble states. They would have been $100,000+ better off by buying a mobile home. Tons and tons of foreclosures in Florida, some of the houses are a third of peak bubble prices today! You should ditch those rich...

I disagree with this CI surgeon predicting stem cells in 15 years

Hearing at 100% with todays stem cell technology isn't realistic. It would be amazing if I could hear *some* sounds/speech without HAs and hear at 20db or better across with HAs. Ill honestly take any decent amount/decibal of improvement. I can always repeat the stem cell treatment anyway in the...

I disagree with this CI surgeon predicting stem cells in 15 years

I have been in contact with RNL and know all the facts. Chloe can hear without HAs. Her good ear is at 90% of normal(which in animal studies, represents ~25db HL) and her bad ear is at 50% of normal(which on a Google search, is sometimes interchangable with a 50db HL) She can hear phones in her...

Finally sold my house and closed the sale today.

The market is slow so congrats to anyone who quickly sells their house. Low prices are everything and prices will only go lower and stay low for many years. The house bubble has burst and still deflating.

Stem cell available in Kansas City

Let me chime in. I am in agreement with Kokonut and Onesided(and the rest of the pro-stem cell guys) The anti-stem cell guys have been wrong on every count. They come across as rude, misinformed, argumentative and excuses on why stem cells couldn't possibly work. They don't want to read any...

I disagree with this CI surgeon predicting stem cells in 15 years

I am getting rude comments from the anti stem cell mob, almost all of who are culturally Deaf. They used to be rude to those who wanted CI. Thanks for respecting our choice to be hearing. Stem cells appears to be a success, however. It may not work 100% of the time for everyone. I am willing...

Are there any "real" tinnitus remedies?

Because tinnitus is associated with hearing loss, stem cells would address both cases. I expect stem cells to be immensely popular for those who are significantly bothered by tinnitus, even if their hearing is half decent. Other tinnitus remedies are of little use, save your money for stem cells.

I'm sad and missed CI-user members at AD

etalton, I totally agree. I have stayed out of most of the arguments and I post less nowdays. I still think people should put more effort into HAs before rushing into CI. FDA requires a maximum of 50% sentence speech, yet I see some with over 70% speech somehow qualifying for CI. I wish I had...

    CI bashing by certain individuals

A deaf dude's life: Cochlear implant average aided scores: 40db? Per your request, I have removed your daughter's name. I didn't see anything offensive about "(name removed) gets 15-25db." this is an impressive result and I was praising her for being a star CI wearer. There was nothing...
