    Deaf Boyfriend versus Hearing Boyfriend...

I'm HOH, and I don't think it would matter if I dated a deaf guy. If I did, I would most definitely learn sign so that I could communicate with him. I personally only have had experience with hearing boyfriends, and all have always been patient with me and my hearing.

    Are you OUT ?

Any company that would fire someone based on their sexuality is not really worth working for, in my opinion.

    New Hearing Aids

I finally was able to get my hearing aids readjusted. I had some of the gain reduced in some frequencies, and also had the environment sensitively cranked all the way up to high to allow the hearing aids to adjust faster. I also had 2 programs put in, one to get rid of background noise and...

    Hearing aid sound difference

They're digital. I've worn digital hearing aids for the last 6 or 7 years, so I'm not new to digital hearing aids. I have a feeling it's my audiologist not being that experienced with the brand. I'll find out on Wednesday when I get them readjusted. If it doesn't go well I'm going to request...

    Hearing aid sound difference

With my new hearing aids right now, I'm experiencing amplification where I don't need it. So my experience has been LOUD. Papers rustling are loud to me now. Sounds are crisper. Doors slamming, drawers shutting are sometimes painful to me. I don't like how I can sense the hearing aids...

    New Hearing Aids

Yesterday, I finally received my Phonak micro BTE Certanas! Now, I've worn hearing aids since I was in kindergarten, so I'm used to the process of getting hearing aids, and the repeat visits to readjust them. I went to pick up my hearing aids yesterday, fully expecting my audiologist to...

    Hearing aid moments

I can remember one moment when I got new hearing aids around the age of 12. I finally had decent hearing aids with the right amount of amplification. I was in the lobby of the hospital, and I could hear coins dropping into a payphone. I remember getting so excited at just being able to hear...

Curious: what do our deaf members do for a living?

I'm a registered nurse in a burn ICU. Sometimes all the beeping alarms get on my nerves, but overall I really enjoy my job.

Any hard-of-hearing ppl raised in the hearing world?

I'm HOH and live in the hearing world. I've worn bilateral hearing aids since kindergarten. Initially, I was classified as a handicapped student, but my parents fought this and had me mainstreamed in school. I was enrolled in speech therapy and lip-reading through elementary school. My...
