What Ticks You Off (Most) About Hearies?

Seems I posted my latest frustration in a similarly titled thread. I'll C&P here. My hearing does not change from day to day. If you put forth the effort to make sure I can understand you one day, then you should continue that effort in the future. I know it is an effort, it is for me also...

    Caption Bleep

I been watching the AMC show "The Killing" the last couple of weeks and have noticed that the captioning will show a word with the first letter then ---. Like b----. I don't know if the word is heard in the audio or if it's bleeped out but it is a distraction when reading the captions. I would...

Deaf persons only: What annoys you the most about hearing people?

My hearing does not change from day to day. If you put forth the effort to make sure I can understand you one day, then you should continue that effort in the future. I know it is an effort, it is for me also. Don't let it slide. That makes me feel unworthy of your time and energy. Makes me feel...

    How do you handle socialization?

I do that too. I will repeat the part I've understood and say "what?" If that fails, I ask that they word it in a different way. That way I can combine what I've heard all together and I've got it. I never approach groups though. The idea makes me too nervous to hear anything.

    question about a road trip

If you are the driver, an amiability silent passenger would be perfect. Maybe someone with hearing loss who would enjoy the same level of volume on the radio. Someone you are comfortable with. Sounds like heaven to me.

    Origin of AIDS

It's called a spin off. It really helps to take an idea from another line of thought. Other boards I'm on use them. With the lead S/O in the title.

    Adjustment to late onset deafness

Hey,that used to be me. I used to be able to hear myself speak and that was cool. Now I can't hear myself and I mangle sounds. It sucks.

    Adjustment to late onset deafness

I can hear myself to a certain extent but best way for me to describe is by saying "feel". I can "feel" myself mispronouncing sounds. It can get very frustrating,I will attempt to say the sounds correctly until I get them right. It's almost like a roar in my voice that interrupts certain sounds...

    HOH/Deaf and Social Anxiety

How the hell did you know about my broom closet? That's where I go to get away from all the "noise" (although I don't "hear" it) around me. Does that make me a selfish bitch? Do fully hearing people have this? (Where's the "hair pulling" emoticon?)

    Adjustment to late onset deafness

I don't hear it as much as I feel it. I can tell if I'm enunciating correctly,it's a feeling. But I believe that my mispronunciation stems from my deafness not a neurological issue. My deafness has advanced. I have no brain issues whatsoever.
