Ok, I am hearing and this makes me mad too! Some of the girls in my Deaf Culture class would talk (voice) when the teacher was in the room... I thought it was so rude. These girls are all pre-interpreter... they have good ASL skills (for the most part)

I just finished my Ed degree so I CAN teach Math and English HS. Right now I work as a TA for an ASL instructor. I have also applied to the interpreter program ... wont know if I am accepted untill end of April :(

I am like you, I prefer to hang out with Deaf people, even though I am 100% hearing. After work when my mom starts talking to me I sign back... then have to remeber that I need to use my voice lol

Thanks Reba... There are few choices in Canada for the interpreter program. I am moving provinces to go to school, that is if I get accepted.

Do you need to know ASL before you enter the program or is learning ASL part of the program in the states? Here you must be proficient in ASL which means you can hold a conversation with someone I am amazed that our program is only 2 years and yours is 4, whats the difference? LOL

Wow a 4 year program? Here in canada the program is two years... I have applied but I still have a screening weekend.. EEK.
