It boggles my mind why people are so offended by my posting; especially since I've been a member here since '04. I guess if some others won't use their ignore feature; I'll just use mine, because, I deeply respect the Deaf and the community. It's such a shame that a few choose to be so venomous.

Actually, you can. However, (and this is a BIG however, ) you will need a mood stabilizer along with that SSNRI/SSRI. You are correct that an SSRI alone WILL activate a manic episode as you found out. Also, some psychiatrists who do prescribe SSRIs for depression in bipolar disorder, do so...
