Question for HS ASL teachers or past students

My opinion is it's up to you and your comfort level with your name sign. If you don't want them to use your name sign because it's too familiar to your first name, make up a class name sign for them to use. Some ASL teachers I know use the first letter of their last name while doing the sign...

annoyed with newbies and starting useless threads

True. On some other forums I belong to, they have a 5 post minimum before you can start a thread and you often see someone posting saying, "I'm just posting to get my 5 so I can start a thread." Annoying one way or the other.

    Mozzeria in San Francisco

Been there once. Food was disappointing as I had heard a lot of favorable comments about it and was expecting better. 4 of us went, ordered 4 different pizzas and shared them. It's claim to fame is the Peking Duck pizza which we had and none of us liked. We also had the Margherita and the...

    Sign Language Apps

I looked at it on Google Play and would've tried it except it costs $3.34. More than I want to spend just to check something out to see if it's any good. If it isn't, money is wasted. There was only one review which isn't enough to get a good feel for how well it works.

WWE Hall of Fame Pat Patterson comes out as GAY!

Not a surprise to those who knew him when he was wrestling in California in the late '50s. My dad, a wrestler from that period, told me some of the 'boys' would hang out with Rock Hudson in San Francisco. Glad to hear he finally came out and can be himself. It's too bad so many felt and still...

    Sign for Orphan?

Don't understand why people often have such a hard time finding stuff themselves when it's obvious they have internet access. Two online dictionaries I checked had a sign for "orphan". It is different than Bottesini's sign. Signs for mother, father and then none are combined. Typical...

    Anyone tried this candy?....

I had chocolate covered bacon at the state fair a couple years ago. Not as horrible as it sounds. Not something I would buy again, but would eat it if offered to me. When in Philly I tried mac & cheese pancakes which sounded pretty bad, but was delicious. When returning a year later, I...

    The difference in vocabulary

Initial thought when reading this was you have a inflated opinion of yourself. Reading your following posts just reinforces this opinion. Others may feel differently, but I think the communication issue is more you than him.

I need help writing an ASL story?Anyone know ASL PLEASE HELP?

In the time you've spent writing, reading, responding you could've easily come up with a story using ASL vocabulary you probably already should know if you weren't a 'D' student. Seriously amazing how many come here asking people to do their homework.

    Signs Used By Hearies

I think it's just the opposite. There wide variation what is allowed sentence structure. Signs are commonly done differently by different people even in the same area. ASL teachers don't agree on how to do some signs. How is that a precise language?
