If you can't get an interpreter, then request remote CART. Also keep in mind that an ASL terp, CART and anything else MUST be in your IEP, or it doesn't mean anything.

In my case, I divide my head into left and right (draw a line, using a B hand down the centre) then with one hand sign DEAF (on the deaf side) and with the other hand sign HH (for my hard of hearing side) For pure SSD, you could sign DEAF for one side, HEARING for the other.

Get the tubes / grommets ... it's a minor, common painless procedure. (They basically only sedate people, because the person needs to be completely still - it's less of a "surgery" than getting ears pierced) The grommets also very well may help prevent additional hearing loss caused by fluid...

At loud enough volumes it would still hurt with conductive loss. Barring an ear canal which congenitally didn't form at all. I have mixed loss on my right - mostly nerve, but some conductive. I can't hear anything at 120db, but it is painful.
