Special license plates for the hearing-impaired

You might get shot! They'll say that they thought you had a gun.

Special license plates for the hearing-impaired

There was a case a while back where the CA Hwy Patrol pulled over a minivan with a family in it. They blocked the entire freeway, and with guns drawn, shouted to each member of the family to get out and lay face down on the freeway. It turned out that the family had done nothing wrong. The...

Official AllDeaf Switched At Birth Discussion [tv show on abc family]

I was expecting to see discussion about Marlee Matlin's character's (forgot name on the show) rebuke of Daphne. I kind of liked it, but it's kind of weird coming from the Character that was once seeing the chef too.

    Save My VRS

    Text+ ??

Just last weekend I was in a place where I could not get cell service, but could get wifi. I downloaded a different app and used it to keep in touch until I figured out that roaming was turned off on my phone. It saved my neck to be able to use the app. I didn't need it anymore after turning...

    Let's Talk Alarm Clocks

I see. Thanks for clarifying. I preferred the BB too, but the iphone alarm has worked well for me.

    Let's Talk Alarm Clocks

What do you mean you can't find one. The clock on the iPhone vibrates when the alarm goes off, as does the flasher (if you set it up). My iphone 4 wakes me up with the flasher and the loud alarm. I always wanted an alarm with a strobe light, and with the iphone I now have one. Wait! Do you...

Bloomberg ASL Interpreter Lydia Callis Mocked by Chelsea Handler, Gets Schooled

I can't tell from the video. No closed captions. Is there a transcript of what was said?

Bloomberg ASL Interpreter Lydia Callis Mocked by Chelsea Handler, Gets Schooled

First, here's the video: Can You Read My Lips? | DeafNation Somewhere around the 4 minute mark is mocking speaking. It's not only that part, but it's obvious at that point. Even if someone doesn't know sign language they should be able to figure it out. Don't misunderstand me. I loved her...

Bloomberg ASL Interpreter Lydia Callis Mocked by Chelsea Handler, Gets Schooled

Whether it was on TV or not, Deaf people do occasionally mock hearing people. I saw one on Deaf Nation the other day. The new vlog from a woman about lip reading. I loved it! It was hilarious! It was still mocking hearing people and their communication method, though. There many other...

Bloomberg ASL Interpreter Lydia Callis Mocked by Chelsea Handler, Gets Schooled

I don't like Chelsea Handler much at all, but is what she was doing any different from Deaf people who mock hearing people by moving their lips in a funny way? Just wondering?

Does that mean my old unused Ojo now belongs to Purple?

I've fallen and can't get up!

I agree with those who say don't do work like that when you are alone. Relying on 911 from a cellphone can be risky, as it will take extra time to find you. It's not always accurate when it transmits your location. If you could somehow notify the fire department, or whoever handles...

AT&T’s FaceTime Blocking Hurts the Deaf

I think it is more about the principle of it, rather than which software is being used. However, you've got a point. Tango is available as an alternative that hearing and deaf both can use.

AT&T’s FaceTime Blocking Hurts the Deaf

That's a reasonable answer as long as it gets opened up some day. I can live with that for a while.

AT&T’s FaceTime Blocking Hurts the Deaf

I do. The solution to the problem is not to restrict a service to the deaf only, or to the hearing only, but rather to open it up for everyone. I want to be able to talk directly with my hearing friends, family, or business without having to use relay all of the time. Relay is awesome, but...

A funny video of an interpreter

I guess I learned something. I had no idea there was a CC button hidden away there. The youtube CC button usually produces gobbledygook anyways, so I never bothered to learn where the button was hidden.

A funny video of an interpreter

Thank you. However, when I try to click on "interactive transcript" nothing happens. Now I see that I was wrong about the first video.

A funny video of an interpreter

Neither one was captioned which is incredibly ironic, considering this forum, and the topic of the video. I think it's a tad offensive. If we were to ask what was said in the video would we be told, "Oh, it's not important"?
