STDs still on the rise, report says

I don't think we should abandon sex ed. in schools, I just think that parents should be more willing to step up and be educators to their children as well as role models, not only in sex ed., but all subjects in school. And that means advocating for better programs to be implemented in our schools.

STDs still on the rise, report says

Hi, I should have just said I was a chiropractor, but I was trying to avoid statements like 'snake-oil salesman' from ignorant people. Yes there are a lot of terrible, cooky, non-scientific chiropractors out there, but there are also a lot of terrible primary care md's, orthopods, attorneys...

Sorry I ticked everybody off. I've ruined my own day.

No. No. and no. Those things don't qualify you as a physician.

STDs still on the rise, report says

U.S. Department of Labor: "Chiropractors, also known as doctors of chiropractic or chiropractic physicians, diagnose and treat patients with health problems of the musculoskeletal system and treat the effects of those problems on the nervous system and on general health."

How did you know I was a chiropractor? And yes a chiropractor is a physician.

How did you know I was a chiropractor? I'm not saying any of you don't have a life.

"I would prefer that a chiropractor not do it, either." What did you mean by that?

I have to apologize for being a little crass, but I haven't changed my views. I don't usually post on forums, and I have to get back to my life now. Don't take this the wrong way (I'm not trying to be a jerk), but don't spend too much time on these forums. Invest in people. If you are really...

STDs still on the rise, report says

You didn't ask if I felt responsible for people's sexual health? "I will ask again, as a physician, do you feel any responsibility for insuring that the rest of the population receives accurate information regarding the health consequences of unprotected sex?" I do have the knowledge base, but...

STDs still on the rise, report says

I'm not changing the subject! You should just get your facts straight before you post them. You're the one that said Bush put the money into this! And 25 states don't accept the money for abstinence only programs, so I doubt there are very, very few schools that teach regular sex. ed...

STDs still on the rise, report says

So if you're at work and your boss tells you to complete a task, would you tell him/her I'm not sure, or I don't know? I doubt that would be a good enough excuse for your boss, so why is it a good enough excuse when it comes to your child's physical and emotional health?

STDs still on the rise, report says

And George Bush didn't put $1.5 billion into abstinence only programs. The U.S. Government has put $1.5 billion into those programs since 1996. Who was President between 1996-2000? Slick Willy. Don't forget that the President doesn't just get to do whatever he wants. It must go through...

STDs still on the rise, report says

I never said I would "simply tell them not to do it." And yes I feel totally capable giving my children scientifically accurate information on all diseases, not just STD's. I am a physician.

STDs still on the rise, report says

I didn't have the greatest parents, so I didn't really ask them anything. I had sex ed in school, but I still had unprotected sex. Luckily I didn't get an STD or get any girls pregnant. Not something that I'm proud of, but my parents were a terrible example for me.

There's always a good answer, as long as it's not that you just take responsibility for your life.

STDs still on the rise, report says

What parent can't get to a public library and check out a book for free? I don't know, sex can be a very destructive force, not only physically in the form of STD's, but it can definitely damage someone emotionally. Now I admit that I have made my mistakes, but I hope that I can teach my son...

STDs still on the rise, report says

I didn't say go without the education, I'm saying that if you don't think your children are getting the information that they need then you should be taking the initiative to provide that to them yourself. How early do you think children should be introduced to this material?
