    So what are the must-haves?

I love the CapTel also....I use the web version, and recently downloaded the Android version. I don't use a doorbell flasher because the dogs usually let me know when someone's at the door, plus I live in a big house and really don't want to bother putting up a bunch of them.

Always the elephant in the room...

OMG, me either! When my kids were little, I couldn't understand them unless I was looking at them straight on.

    Relationships with Speech-language Pathologists

I have to weigh in on this....my mother is a speech therapist. For many years she was the head of the Speech Pathology/Audiology department for Gracewood State school and Hospital. She also maintained a private practice at the same time. (The heavy workload probably explains why she didn't...

    Annoying ignorant hearing people stories

Wirelessly posted (dorothybaez) I would never do that unless I really meant it. :)

    Annoying ignorant hearing people stories

Wirelessly posted (dorothybaez) If my husband said something like that, his clothes would be all over the front lawn.

So how can I have a music player that has a "lyric" feature?

Wirelessly posted (dorothybaez) I spent a year "dancing" in the car to one of my son's cd's, only to later learn that the lyrics were truly perverse.

    Annoying ignorant hearing people stories

Wirelessly posted (dorothybaez) Like being attractive helps me hear better. It's also amusing when strangers tell my husband and I how great it is that he married me.....

    Annoying ignorant hearing people stories

Wirelessly posted (dorothybaez) Okay, here's mine. When I have to tell someone I am HOH, and they respond with, "But you're so pretty."

    Giving up on hearing aids

I have HA's and only wear them sporadically. Like in situations where I need to hear...like client meetings classes/workshops. I also do tarot readings, and wear them then. But every day at home...not usually.

Has anyone tried learning a foreign language w/ a hearing loss?

Wirelessly posted I started losing my hearing gradually as a kid. I had a hard time with languages in school, but I married a Puerto Rican and now I can lip read in Spanish. I'm shy about speaking it though, because I don't think I like the way I sound. I'm trying to learn some Chinese...

Chase Rep Thinks Deaf People Can't Have Credit Cards

Wirelessly posted I once tried to use my credit card online to send money through moneygram. I got an error and had to call their toll free number. I couldn't understand the rep, so I put my son on the phone. She had the cojones to tell him I had violated their terms of service by allowing...

What Ticks You Off (Most) About Hearies?

I just couldn't....she's old and has had some complications with her cataracts. She's not a mean person, just occasionally doesn't think. She's an SLP (speech pathologist) and has been for the past 50 years so you'd think she would know better....go figure. Oddly enough, when my hearing...
