    Barfight

Is the above "interaction" a consequence of "deaf entrocentrism"? Not sure how "colonialism/evangelism/monoculture" "fits into social interactions"? Perhaps a reflection on Trappist monks-silence-might make such social interaction -less confrontational? Perhaps it is "interesting" that...

Advice about being hard of hearing in the hearing world

Hi Claudia: From my Canadian Hearing Society/Toronto- Coping and dealing with your Hearing loss classes-don't expect your "hearing friends" to be "knowledgable" about how to deal/cope with your Hearing loss. If one becomes "deaf" it gets much more difficult to communicate that condition. All...

    Im gabriel....And im going deaf

Gabriel: the answer to your query is up to you. Exactly how do YOU plan on dealing with your "deafness" for the rest of your life? As you have already decided not to "explore whether a Cochlear Implant might be of value to you" thus the other option appears to be "use of ASL" Given that one...

    Im gabriel....And im going deaf

Gabe: Having a Cochlear Implant-if suitable for you-will not "stop deafness' as such. Like you I knew almost 15 years I would become eventually "deaf". Happened December 20, 2006. I had some knowledge of Cochlear Implants back then. Fast forward: coming up to 7th anniversary of being...

    Being Deaf in Holographic Universe

As I understand- religious matters (theology) here- are not to be discussed. Being "saved"would seem to be a theological matter. re: "purpose of human life".

    Being Deaf in Holographic Universe

Not sure if the juxtapose of "metaphysical perspective" with "holographic universe theory" is valid? On the face of it-entirely different "ideas".

How do you feel about being asked questions?

Having a Cochlear Implant is obvious that I am DEAF, aside: don't mind answering questions especially pointing out the fact-Sunnybrook's /Toronto-experience on how many persons have been implanted-1 out of 3 reviewed since 1984. 1000 out of 3000. Info given a patients meeting last year.

Do's and Don't's in the Dead community?

Of relevance to AllDeaf.com-do the "dead" use ASL? How the "dead" can commincate if cremated seems to be a "major problem"? What next?

    Deaf Identity Theft

Since I became bilateral DEAF - December 20, 2006 - I have never contemplated "Deafhood". Presumably something to do with the other construction="Hearinghood". aside: I don't recall any alteration in my perception of my self-to date. I have asked in this forum exactly what "Deafhood" is- to...

    Writing in English?

Hi Mandi: Having read the entire thread- but not raised-when has the person become "Deaf"? There is a huge difference being born "Deaf" vs becoming "Deaf" say 50 years old-relative to speaking/writing skills. "Auditory memory"? Whether the "Deaf" person "can/has the use of a Cochlear Implant"...

    Which Cochlear Implant is best?

As I understand the matter: re:" music Hearing" is somewhat contingent on your actual condition of your cochlea etc-not the processor. This was given to me at Sunnybrook/Toronto cochlear implant section way back in 2007 when I was operated. aside: I hear music fine for the last 7 years...

Emergency help needed! Well, not life or death but need international relay

I assumed he was referring to TTY- relay(711). aside: I don't use Bell IP though I do use their phone lines of which my TTY is "hooked" up. I also use Bell "call answer service"- which "tapes" all messages left. aside: easy to get Relay to say what the message is. aside: one must the...
