    Signing Time (DVDs)

I haven't watched any of them but you can stream the first few on DCMP so you can what they're like before investing any money in them. Hopefully this link works: DCMP.org :: Home :: Thunderstone Search

DC Police attack man in wheelchair

In the video, it looks like the guy in the wheelchair started to stand and support himself. The officer on the left stuck his leg waaay out and tripped him. I don't know if he did it on purpose or if he was off balance and trying to steady himself, but if you watch the video again at the point...

    Any meal (Dinner only) lol

Depends on what I'm having but usually water because I hate it and am always thirsty after I eat so it forces me to drink some water everyday. If I'm not in the mood for water then I'll have wine or a beer. I save the milk for cookies at midnight

Signs that are not in the dictionarys

For mini skirt and platform boots wouldn't use just sign "skirt, short" or something similar? No clue on Harry Potter, I spell that and then abbreviate HP if we continue to discuss it.

For women only! And men who wear manbras

Marilyn Monroe used to sleep in a bra for the same reason. She still has a gazillion admirers even decades after her death so she must've been onto something there, eh?

    What are your favorite sports??

To play or to watch? I'm not a big fan of watching sports because I can't sit still for very long but I love playing softball, basketball and pool/billiards. I guess that last one would be more of a past time than a sport though.

What Ticks You Off (Most) About Hearies?

rmclendon, stick around and keep on posting. I've only been here for what, a month or so? I don't post much but I've noticed that as long you aren't outright disrespectful or arguementative about everything you'll be accepted by the majority as just another member regardless of whether you're a...

What Ticks You Off (Most) About Hearies?

I was actually referring to the context and title of this thread, not in general. I completely agree that pretty much any classifier can be used in a derogatory way depending on the way it is used. Look at someone and say that they're a woman/man with a look of contempt on your face and you can...

    Drivers Licenses & Deafness

Ohio requires it, I even had to have it on my temps when I was 16. It's the same as most everyone, you need to have both outside mirrors and a rearview. It also is noted that I wear prescription glasses/contacts so no biggie to me. A few years ago it actually helped when I was in a pretty bad...

What Ticks You Off (Most) About Hearies?

Deafie, hearie. It's just slang that's used becaue it's a lot easier than typing out hearing individual. It's not a term used to segregate, but more to clarify who you are. No different than saying you're fluent in ASL or non-signing. Just out of curiousity, what do you find so offensive...

sign language posters as gentle reminders for hearing housemates

:ty: for posting those links Anij! I love the caterpillar sign in the first link, kind of Alice in Wonderland-ish. I have a 4 year old who needs help with her alphabet that would love it.

    Why are you deaf?

Apparently born with a progressive hearing loss that was diagnosed when I was 13. I have a severe/profound loss now, reasons why are unknown.

How much do you wear your hearing aids?

Thank you, I'll have so many hearing aid batteries around this place. I already have 13's and 312's from my older models and now probably 675. They keep getting bigger and bigger and bigger the older I get :hmm:

Chase Rep Thinks Deaf People Can't Have Credit Cards

We had this problem with Chase bank. My husband called to activate our cards when they arrived in the mail but he was only able to activate his. 20 minutes later he finally hung up on them for all the reasons stated above, there were no accomadations for deaf to activate the cards and they...

How much do you wear your hearing aids?

Do you mind me asking how long you've had the Naida and what you like about it in particular? I've done some reading on them and the biggest complaint was that they ran down batteries quickly but that was for the SP model and my audiologist thinks I will need the UP. Oh! I did read that...

    Deaf-Hearing Marriage

Oh geez, all the typos on my last post that I'm too lazy to correct. Sorry about that.

    Deaf-Hearing Marriage

My husband (hearing) and myself (not) have been together almost 8 years and married for 6. He does get exasperated with my hearing loss specifically sometimes a long with all the usual issues married couples deal with, but he's attending ASL classes with me as another option for us to be able to...
