Deal Drugs = No Deal for SSDI

First of all, this appears to be a Worker's Comp case. The ruling appears to be inapplicable to disabled individuals drawing SSI/SSDI benefits. However, I do know that states will cut off SSI benefits if disabled persons are incarcerated. I'm not so sure about SSDI.

Presidential Candidate Says Marijuana Should Be Available For Sale

I tend to support decriminalization arguments in allowing small amounts of marijuana to be sold like any other cigarette. (And taxed accordingly!) However, Gravel's arguments, if he really said that, does sound absurd. It is a drug that has side effects and can do damage to the human body.

    How to solve courtroom injustice?

Gotta disagree with you on that point. Jury duty by laypeople allows transparency throughout the judical system. Jury duty should be a proud and civic duty a U.S. citizen can ever undertake. Yes, I know juries aren't perfect; they make mistakes. In rare cases, they may even intentionally...

    Anyone Ubuntu Linux Lovers??!!

Basically, its a software solution that allows you to host a web server on your computer instead of having your web content hosted with a provider like GoDaddy. L = Linux A = Apache Web Server M = MySQL database P = PHP processing language = LAMP server. For more info on Ubuntu Server...

    Anyone Ubuntu Linux Lovers??!!

I do use Ubuntu Linux; It was a server edition, i.e., it didn't have a gui like KDE or Gnome. I installed it on my laptop so I could use it as a test LAMP server for my webdev needs. It truly was a breeze to use and a joy to work with!

    How to solve courtroom injustice?

Here's some ideas which I could think off-hand (pun intended!), that could work within our U.S. criminal jurisprudence; (Disclaimer; I am an attorney. :) But, I have never practiced law, much less doing any criminal law work.) Focus penalities on rehabilitation than exacting punishment. i.e...

    How to solve courtroom injustice?

I disagree with your contention that public defenders, by large, are a joke. I am well mindful of the fact that within any given profession, there's bound to be a couple of bad apple's, lazy people, incompetent personnel, etc. But most public defenders are well staffed, well trained, and take...

Let's hope this task force will lead to substantive reforms allowing more freer access to the state courts and the legal machinery that goes with it, for all Deaf people living in Florida.

Schwarzenegger sued over veto of funds for mentally ill homeless

On that note, this doesn't sound like good news for the ODA's 'umbrella' of agencies; i.e. GLAD, DCARA, DCS, CODIE, NorCal, etc. I just hope they can survive the latest round of budgetary scrutiny in Sacto, with pretty much of their finances left intact.

    ASL Expo 2007 Schedule

FWIW, their website is now 'parked'. I'm not sure what it means. Hopefully they'll still have their expo schedule, and get their website back in order soon.

    Teacher of the Year News

I'm surprised our resident Deaf news guru, Ms. Delectable, hasn't picked this one up yet. A local Deaf Teacher was recently made Teacher of the Year at his school, and is in the running for district-wide Teacher of the Year honors within Miami-Dade County. Congrats! Deaf Teacher Given...

No, I didn't go on the Deaf cruise. From the looks of it, I wish I had gone on the cruise! It looked like it was a lot of fun.

Comparing with MS Office Suite and StarOffice Freeware Suite

You mean Google Docs? I have used it and like the fact that I can work on a word processing document from any computer. However, the editor seems to be HTML-based, and I really haven't used it as much as I have for OO or MS Office to comment on its usability and effectiveness.
