DOD Asks: How Would You Feel Showering With Gays?

So it does have to do with number of people in the family, in part. Definitely seems more important to me than gay or straight.

Signing and getting to know you

 Welcome to AD. Look for some ASL classes or Deaf events in your area if you want to improve your sign language skills. :)

DOD Asks: How Would You Feel Showering With Gays?

YES especially when you can feel it but can't pinpoint exactly where it's coming from! Now I just freeze when someone's staring at me. Works pretty well. :cool2: More on topic, if someone's staring you out or making advances, isn't that considered inappropriate sexual conduct, period?

    1) Past relationships 2) Adoption 3) Artificial insemination and surrogate pregnancy 4) Agreeing on one member having sex with another person of the opposite sex outside the relationship (not an affair cause it's an agreement and just for getting pregnant)

:laugh2::laugh2: Oh don't worry I know what a stare feels like, we blindies get used to the public staring at us all the time. :giggle:

DOD Asks: How Would You Feel Showering With Gays?

Do straight married couples without children get the same housing as straight married couples with children? Some gay couples have children too. Wouldn't that be more about number of people per family and spacing than gay or straight?

DOD Asks: How Would You Feel Showering With Gays?

Nothing would change in the sense that gays are already in the military, showering right along with everyone else, and yet there seems not to be any major issues, so what difference does it make if the straight members happen to know? They might feel uncomfortable at first but eventually they'll...

DOD Asks: How Would You Feel Showering With Gays?

Wow, you asked one person. So because one person told you what she thinks, you're just going to blindly agree with her? Why don't you ask more than one gay/lesbian service member (former or current) and try to get more of a consensus?

Thinking in ASL or other Sign Languages

Good way to describe it! I get the same when thinking in ASL.

DOD Asks: How Would You Feel Showering With Gays?

It does, which is why I made the point about finishing through the contract. And the other point that gays already serve in the military. Straight members already shower with gay members as is. So nothing would actually be changing in terms of who you're showering with. Gay members would just be...

Judge in Boston rules federal ban on gay marriage is unconstitutional

:laugh2::laugh2: It's like the people who say "I'm not racist, I have a black friend!"

By "give up" I mean quitting the job.

DOD Asks: How Would You Feel Showering With Gays?

Exactly, and that would apply to gay and straight members alike, so allowing gays in the military really wouldn't change anything in terms of sexual conduct. A gay member is no more or less likely to fraternize than a straight member and anyone who did would face the same consequences as a...

DOD Asks: How Would You Feel Showering With Gays?

Rules change. Companies change their policies. If I get a job and I like but then my boss changes a rule, do I just throw my hands up in the air and give up? No, I finish out my contract and then I think about finding a new job. And it's not like gay members are joining for the first time...

Thinking in ASL or other Sign Languages

It has more to do with what language you're thinking in than your hearing status. Anyone who learns ASL will see or feel the signs in their head if they think in ASL.

The military is something you sign up for. No one's being forced to do anything. If there's something you oppose, you can always just not sign up.

Same, but more out of safety than modesty, because I'm trans and blind. Makes me an easy target.

Thinking in ASL or other Sign Languages

Sign language users see the signs in their mind's eye the same way spoken language users hear the words in their mind's ear. When I think in sign language I can feel the signs inside my hands.

DOD Asks: How Would You Feel Showering With Gays?

Well, duh. I don't think gay people are asking en masse for the right to engage in public sexual activities. Although I must say it would be nice if all heterosexuals practiced that standard as well.
