Yes. I think you will find that most bilateral candidates do have trials with HAs before they have surgery as they have to satisfy the insurance company that there no cheaper and less invasive alternatives that could provide equivilent or similar results.

Your TV must be as bad as Australian TV :). We got a DVD recorder so that we can watch documentaries and good quality films without all the commercials. I love documentaries but they are far and few between unless you subscribe to sattelite TV and I'm not prepared to spend the money!

Same here and it won't change unless Cochlear can come up with a CI that is completely waterproof. Apparently, as a young girl I hated swimming and my mother withdrew me from lessons but I did eventually get to a stage where I felt comfortable with not hearing anything in the water. You get by.
