What's so asine about this whole thing is that Paul Stanley a member of kiss has microtia, you'd think he'd be a bit more sensitive to the deaf and hard of hearing community

So they are having a deaf social in Charlotte NC in August at carowinds , I think it'd be fun (plus I've never been to an amusement park before ) anyway back to the point , I think It'd be a good chance for Maggie to maybe make some friends. Thank you for taking the time to send me your advice , you are 100% right the very second I am not nice or welcoming the word will definitely get around and then no one will come, I agree , maybe she'll she how the children play and maybe learn herself , who knows , and I guess i need to learn...

I don't think I am being up tight. But there are no kids in our area she can sign with which is why I started this group for her , I don't want her to ever feel embarrassed but I would like her to make some friends who communicate the same way she does , thank you for your advice

Ok so here's an update , I've sent out our flyers to audiologist, otolaryngologist and our local school for the deaf which is two cities over from me, also you are all right , it's not like babies really communicate that much anyway , I guess at this point I'll just keep my irritating opinions...

I am slightly embarrassed to say I don't know if a CI would work for Maggie , she's missing her ear canal and drum so I am honestly not sure , definitely something to ask the audiologist when we go back . Maggies brother and sister and learning to sign. Some days they are enthusiastic to sign...

No it's not a Ci it's actually a BAHA bone anchored hearing aid ,she was born with out a right ear at all (microtia and atresia ) and her left ear is severely deaf . She hates her BAHA it's on a headband and it's got to be relatively tight so she refuses to wear it and we don't force it on her...

I agree with you! As a mom I am so thankful it's her ears that aren't considered normal verses her heart or any other organ , that is a very clarifying point! And you are right plenty of love and attention is all any child needs to have a good foundation.
