Mac- I can't open anything help!!

Couple of day ago, When I was using Parallels Desktop and for some reason some application quit itself and I got Error Message and ask me to send report to Apple. So I closed everything and restart my computer. After that I couldn't open any program not even one. My computer act so slow when starting up that not normal and I couldn't get Internet to work. I called Apple Tech Support and try figure out how fix it and it didn't help. They suggest me bring my computer to Apple Store. Anybody know why it happen? How fix it?
 
This software runs only on Apple with Intel. I don't have the Intel... Just let you know. That's all.

Maybe, you could try ask sequoias, Boult, Neo, deafskeptic, justlook, and some others about your software.

you didn't give detail about your mac like ppc or intel or what osx etc..

Did you boot up with your install DVD and do repair?

If you are using a ppc based Mac then should not install Parallels Desktop as it is for intel mac only.

well to uninstall Parallels Desktop, you should boot mac normally but hold down shift key to disable extension then find the uninstaller for Parallels if there is one. If there isn't one then read the manual for uninstall instruction.

anyway when having problem, please provide system details so we know what to help.

please provide us what operating system version are you using, what model of apple macintosh are you using. what did you do last that caused it to happen?

its likely you may need to reformat and re install Mac os x, if you haven't done that for more than 1 year. I recommend doing that ever 1 year or so. I haven't reformatted and re install it since over 1 year so far. its starting to slow down a little.

There's no need to reformat and reinstall. that's bad advice because mac os x is not like windows and Mac OS X has built-in defragger which is done on the fly.

only reformat and reinstall as last resort.

Although he can do "Archive and re-install" method which will disable the System folder and install new System folder then it will copies settings over from old System folder.

There's no reason to re-format unless absolutely necessary.

in Windows world, Reformat is often given advice.

and make sure you have about 20GB of space to leave room for virtual memory swap because Mac OS X use hard drive as virtual ram in addition to real physical Ram. so recommendation is to not fill the hard drive to near full so it run slow because of memory paging. so make room at least 25Gb for best result.

well, either way works. I didn't think about just re installing it instead of formatting it. also I use a 40 gb hard drive, too. smile. p.s. I was and am never a windows user. I've been a mac user since 1993. before that, I had an atari.

sorry for off the point. lets see what we can do with that issue.

If all else fails, go to a Mac Store, make an appointment and have a Genius take a look!
 
Here info about my computer

Mac OSX.4.10
MacBook Intel
Memory 1GB just upgrade couple of week ago.

They update system week ago and it come out like this Mac OSX.4.10 I am sure other Mac OSX user notice that. One Problems I don't have back up.
 
Hmmm, since parallel desktop runs on your intel Mac, not sure why your Mac messed up. Maybe that application corrupted 10.4.10. What OS did you run on Parrallel desktop? Did you install Windows Vista or something? I don't have a intel Mac so I don't know much about that. I am using a 6 year old Mac running 10.4.10.

I think Parallel desktop did mess up my computer. Yes, I did install Windows Vista. Now I need think how remove whole Parallel desktop stuff see if it worked but I couldn't do anything right now so I need do different thing without lose everything on my computer. I just can't lose everything on my computer. I have very important stuff in it. I just can't lose forever.
 
Can you move your important files into a blank CD/DVD or an external hard disk? (I feel that a CD/DVD is safe because it cannot be erased later.)

After that, you reinstall your hard disk with your clean original OS X CD. Then, click "software update" from Apple's icon on the left top corner for update the OS's version.

I forgot one more thing - write down the network information for the internet before you clean it up.

vistamac1.pngAfter seeing how the Mac Pro ran Microsoft Vista better than OS X, we wondered how well the best of both worlds worked. Namely, using Parallels to run Vista alongside OS X. So we installed Vista using Parallels on our 15-inch, 2.33 GHz Core 2 Duo MacBook Pro.

The good news is it did work, but the bad news is it didn't work very well.

Compared to Windows XP support, Vista support in Parallels is still quite developmental. It installed fine, sure, but you didn't get the fancy Aero graphics even in Vista Ultimate thanks to Parallel's lacking support in the graphics card area.

Also, we couldn't get the networking up. That's kind of an important piece. However, the rest of the stuff was working just fine, just without networking or Aero.

Sigh... I tired do Archive & Install and it won't work. Nothing works! Sigh... Look like macbook are complete dead plus it keep make kinda of clicking vibrating and fan rumbles it have been like this since I got macbook!

Gee. It sounds bad to me. I recommend you this time to uncheck box something not to save the previous OS X preferences (i.e. Archive) for formating the hard disk. It isn't fun to do this job. I hope that you have the OS X to format it. Awhile it is formating the HD, go out for a walk for a hour.

If you really want the Parallels, then install it after you formated the hard disk to see what happens. I think that it should be fine because the company tested the software on a clean OS X before the company sells them out to people.

If no luck, then re-format it with no Archive, and send the Parellel back to the store. Get your money back. Then wait for the company to announce that it will be ready as 100 perfect.
 
I suspect that it has to do with your battery. Just check on Apple website to see if there is a battery recall for some laptops.

In case, if the screen is black, then the battery is definitely the problem - even the wire is plugged. I had that problem with my old iBook, and I was lucky to get it fixed before it was near expired for the warranty.
